Andy Samberg Says ‘Palm Springs 2’ Could Be like ‘WandaVision’

Now, in a recent interview with RadioTimes, Samberg has stated that a sequel could be in the works as the cast and crew are all interested in continuing with the story. However, they are awaiting an “incredible script” to pull it off.

He also teased that the sequel could follow in the path of the Marvel series WandaVision, with the characters living in a simulation. Read his full statement below:

“All we need is an incredible script. I mean, it could go in a lot of different directions because I feel like even the way that the movie ends is slightly open-ended, depending on your interpretation. So it could be marital bliss, or it could be sort of a WandaVision situation. You’re not sure exactly where they are.”

The movie, which delves into a unique take of the time loop trope, was well received by audiences, and the concept has also been used in Blumhouse’s slasher hits Happy Death Day and Happy Death Day 2U.

Irrespective of that, there’s only so much to dig from one mine, and thus, Samberg and the crew’s search for a different take could prove best for a sequel offering something new.

In this case, a WandaVision moment would work great, considering how well the show did with viewers. To see it emulated in Palm Springs could also be very exciting, albeit not for Nyles and Sarah.

Nevertheless, as of now, the ending of the movie is still up for consideration since it left many unanswered questions. A sequel could also answer them. But until a script is finalized, Palm Springs 2 shall stay merely as wishful thinking.
