And Just Like That… Season 1 Episode 5 Speculation

Carrie is clearly still grappling with the grief of losing Big and making the decision to sell the apartment was perhaps her way of trying to move on with her life. She feels that Seema, her stylish realtor, is a breath of a fresh air because she’s a new friend who didn’t know Big or her history with him.

Stanford’s character is sent away to Tokyo to perhaps write him off the show after actor Willie Garson passed away due to pancreatic cancer. While the character was included in all of the episodes originally, the showrunner had to change the storyline when his condition worsened.

And Just Like That

Carrie has an outburst when Seema accidentally breaks a photo frame and tells Seema that she found her response to it to be too insensitive as the item held so much sentimental value to her. Seema apologizes and also tells Carrie about how her callous remark about Seema being on dating apps made her feel. The two have a candid conversation and are now past the point of the initial formalities of adult friendship as they can be real with each other.

A central theme in the show is depicting middle-aged female friendships and how difficult they can be to navigate. While the spin-off series does include additional themes of gender identity, sexuality, and race in an effort to be more progressive than the original, the approach to it has been superficial at best. While Charlotte is able to get into Lisa’s good books, are the two going to have the conversation of race outside of dinner parties and PTA meetings as their friendship grows?

Charlotte is concerned about Miranda’s drinking and sends her a book about quitting drinking. Is Charlotte just overstepping or does Miranda actually have a problem? Carrie starts to face hip troubles and has to attend physiotherapy. How will she continue her podcast with her prevailing health issues? Stay tuned to find out.
