AMD’s upcoming graphics cards teased by ASRock at their Gamescom booth

Gamescom’s initial announcement for the event hinted at the possibility of a “product launch” during the days of the event.

An attendee @theclub 386 at the Gamescom events has shared an image from the ASRock Gamescom Booth. Three cardboard placeholders were spotted amidst other graphics cards that tease AMD’s upcoming graphics cards, which will be announced on 26th August during Gamescom, featuring the RDNA3 technology.

In the backdrop of the text, a triple fan design can be seen for all three cardboard placeholders. This comes after rumors that AMD is reportedly planning on releasing updates on their Navi-32 die-based RDNA3 GPUs this week, namely the RX 7800 XT and RX 7700 XT models.

The rumored specifications for the RX 7700 XT and the RX 7800 XT have been known for a long time. While these are not set in stone and can change before release, both are based on RDNA3.

The RX 7700 XT will have 3456 shading units, 216 texture mapping units, and 128 ROPs. The GPU has a base frequency of 1900 MHz, which can reach 2600 MHz. Memory runs at 2250 MHz, giving an effective bandwidth of 18 Gbps.

The power draw is about 200 W via a 1x 8-pin power connector. The RX 7700 XT will perform similarly to Nvidia’s GeForce RTX 3080.

The RX 7800 XT is based on the Navi 32 XT variant. This card features 3840 shading units, 240 texture mapping units, and a similar 128 ROP count. However, the RX 7800 XT features 60 raytracing acceleration cores.

The GPU comes with 16 GB DDR6 memory, connected using a 256-bit interface. The base frequency is 1800 MHz, reaching boost speeds of up to 2520 MHz. The memory runs at 2250MHz, giving an effective bandwidth of 18Gbps.

RX 7800 XT lags behind the RTX 3080 by a mere 3%, which will be relatively noticeable while gaming. Fans say the sensible pricing for RX 7800 XT would be USD 499, and for RX 7700 XT USD 399.

With AMD’s Gaming Festival scheduled for August 25th, starting at 3 AM Pacific Time. “The Highlight Show” will feature AMD GPU Chief Scoot Herkelman and is set for 10 AM Pacific Time.

If AMD can price these products smartly, they will provide serious competition to arch-rivals Nvidia. This will allow them to get a remarkable market share at a time when Nvidia is being heavily criticized for its pricing.
