Brooklyn Nine-nine stars Andy Samberg and Melissa Fumero are reuniting for Comedy Central’s upcoming animated comedy series, Digman! about an archaeologist who made history cool.
No, I’m not talking about Indiana Jones, but Rip Digman! The new series will dive into a universe where archaeologists are the coolest people, and Rip Digman leads them all.
The show will focus on the titular character in a world where archaeologists are celebrities. Andy Samberg leads the cast with longtime colleague Melissa Fumero and other great voice actors, including Mitra Jouhari, Tim Robinson, Dale Soules, Guz Khan, and Tim Meadows. We have more names on the main character list, but you’ll grow weary of that many names.
Other guest voice actors joining the cast include Daniel Radcliffe, Edgar Wright, Jane Lynch, Harvey Guillén, Jason Schwartzman, Lauren Lapkus, and Clancy Brown.
Samberg is creating, writing, and producing the Comedy Central show, making this his debut three-feature project. Comedy Central has shared a first-look promo of the TV Series, which you can view below:
The thirty-second promo isn’t enough to give us a good idea about the plot of the upcoming series, but we do hear the SNL actor breaking out his best Nicolas Cage impression. The Indiana Jones and National Treasure vibes are strong because the treasure at the end is the original Ten Commandments.
The animated TV series even offers insight into a flashback of Rip Digman’s younger self, which means the show will offer us the backstory of how Digman came into the profession of, well, digging.
The Brooklyn Nine-Nine actor has proved he’s got the chops for voice acting with his previous credits, including the Hotel Transylvania and Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs film series. It will be fun to see Samberg take on another wacky character and bring him alive with his talents in the new animated comedy series.
But apart from the cast list and promo, there isn’t much else to report on the Comedy Central series. We expect a proper trailer or some updates from the lead actor sometime soon, so keep your ears open – or eyes in this case.
Digman! will premiere on Comedy Central on Wednesday, March 22, 2023.
