Soon-to-be-released Alan Wake 2’s Hefty System Requirements Shocks Fans

When Cyberpunk 2077 came out in 2019, no one expected a game to look this good. However, this came at a price, as players required higher-end GPUs to generate the frames.

Alan Wake 2, set for an October 27th release, has its hardware specifications revealed. The recommended GPU to play the title even on medium settings is an RTX 3070 or a Radeon RX 6700 XT. If players want the Ray Tracing option, for best performance, players will require an RTX 4080.

Without any exaggeration, this is a very heavy ask for moderate gaming rigs. RTX 3070, still considered a rather powerful and capable GPU, has been sent to the minimum requirements panel, shocking fans.

The requirement for an RTX 4080 is when players want to play with Ray Tracing on High and Path Tracing on with 2160p@60FPS. These requirements reveal quite a lot about the world that the developers of Alan Wake 2 are looking to build.

It has been known for quite a while now that Alan Wake 2 will have one of the best visuals ever seen in a game. This will require players to upgrade to the latest generation of hardware.

It is nice to see developers pushing the existing hardware to its limits – a trend started by CD Projekt Red – the developers of Cyberpunk 2077 who brought out ray tracing, powered by Nvidia’s RTX 4090 and 4080 series.

As a part of the IGN First preview, players got an insight into what Alan Wake 2 has to offer. Combat is heavy, just like the original Alan Wake. Dodging is critical.

Players must also solve the bigger mystery by picking up the minor clues scattered across the map. Putting it together is cumbersome at first, but as soon as the players get comfortable, it is a fun experience to map things out on the wall.

With Alan Wake 2’s October 27th release date drawing closer, players are torn about purchasing a new GPU for the title. The best approach would be to wait for a week or two until the reviews are strong and then dive into the immersive world of Alan Wake 2.
