Episode 8 of Akebi’s Sailor Uniform starts with the class’s scores being revealed, and Akebi is placed fifth. Tatsumori comes waltzing into class to announce their upcoming sports event.
People are assigned the sports they’ll be participating in, and assigned partners they’ll be competing against. Akebi gets swimming and cheering. In swimming, she’ll be competing against Riri. Riri bets that if she wins, she’ll take Akebi’s sailor uniform. Will Akebi win?

Episode 9 Speculations
The previous episode saw one of the rarities of this series, a loveline between two girls and neither of them was Akebi. Tatsumori and Riri look like they’ll get to know each other. As they say, opposites attract.
I really thought the creators were about to do something weird with the story, like introducing bullying in this perfect anime world, but they didn’t. As it turns out, Riri’s joke only made her bond with her friends stronger, especially Akebi and Tatsumori.

Episode 8 Recap
The test scores have come out and Akebi is placed fifth, in the whole class. Tanigawa has topped of course. Tatsumori comes into the class and announces their sports event.
Students are allotted to different categories of sports. Akebi gets to do cheering and swimming. Since people are participating in pairs, Akebi is paired with Riri.
Erica tells everyone that Akebi is a great swimmer making Riri excited for their next match. Riri tells Akebi that she’s a pretty good swimmer as well, she went to nationals.
Riri bets on their match and says if Akebi wins, she can ask her to do whatever she wants. But if she wins, she’ll take Akebi’s sailor uniform.
Tatsumori expresses her disgust over such an unfair bet. She says so to Riri, but Riri just brushes it off and says she likes Tatsumori and how upright she is. She also makes a bet with Tatsumori.
Akebi goes back home and catches her mum making her summer school uniform. She’s upset now that she knows it could belong to Riri one day. When her mom finishes the dress, she puts it on and shows it off to her dad.
At the swimming event, it’s a close competition between Riri and Akebi, but Riri wins in the end. She hugs Akebi who’s upset and says the bet was just a joke, to make Akebi take the competition seriously. In the end, all of them get tutored by Tatsumori.
