Ufotable went the extra mile and used a specially designed font for the anime, which is now available to everyone.

Adobe Fonts has added two Japanese calligraphy fonts used in Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba anime: Kokuryu-sоu and Shinryu-sоu.

Kokuryu is a brush-script display typeface designed to evoke the image of a male dragon wildly flying in a sky filled with dark clouds. Heavy and light strokes formed with the contrast of fast and slow stroke motions bring to mind the dynamics of the dragon’s raging emotion. Kokuryu-sou is Adobe’s interpretation of the style.

This font was used in episode 22 of season 1, during the introduction of Hashira.

Shinryu is a brush-script typeface designed with the image of a gentle male dragon speaking to us. Its thin strokes make it possible to give a tender image while it looks dignified when used for texts. Shinyu-sou is Adobe’s interpretation of the style.

This appears to be a cleaner and thinner version of Kokuryu-sou and is often used in anime’s credit sequences and promotional art.

These fonts were produced by Kagoshima-based font production company Showashotai with renowned calligrapher Eisen Tsunanori at the helm. The company began as an advertising company back in the 1950s and eventually transitioned into a font manufacturing company specializing in brush-script typefaces in 2006.

These fonts are used extensively in the menu and during the ultimate attack sequences in Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba- The Hinokami Chronicles game.

You can use these fonts through Adobe Creative Cloud next time you want to give your content that extra Demon Slayer flavor.
