ABC’s Card Sharks Resumes Filming with Minimal Crew and No Audience

ABC has successfully restarted the filming of its hit game show Card Sharks on July 9.

However, the production crew has been given strict directions to take the required protocols keeping in mind the pandemic and to prevent the shoot from halting midway.

The show is being shot with minimal crew and without an audience. Meanwhile, the producer Fremantle has put in rigorous health and safety protocols, in line with the community guidelines for coronavirus.

The production is adhering to all state and local requirements as well as union and industry guidelines for production. The news comes even as there is a growing belief in the scientific community that the virus may also be airborne.

However, a small but growing list of productions have resumed filming with America’s Got Talent being the most recent unscripted reality show to do the same.

As the summer sets in, a few drama shows have also resumed filming recently including the four daytime series.

Card Sharks involves two players who face off in a head-to-head elimination game in every round.

Each contestant has to decide if the odds are worth the risk of losing the prize money until the previous round to make it to the big game.

Ultimately, players can either take the prize and quit or continue betting with the hope of taking home a major cash prize.

Card Sharks

Did you know that the Card Sharks as we know it is actually the reboot of a classic game show of the same name, from the 70s?

The original Card Sharks was created by Chester Feldman for NBC from 1978-1981 with Jim Perry as host.

CBS followed with a revival from 1986-1989, hosted by Bob Eubanks, accompanied by another version with Bill Rafferty. Gene Wood was the announcer on all three series.

It seems Hollywood isn’t going to back down just yet. Stay home and stay safe, your entertainment is being taken care of!

Happy Quarantining!
