Polish developers People Can Fly have finally put out a new fix for Outriders’ inventory wipe bug. The patch is available for Steam, Epic, Xbox, and PlayStation but there is no update on when it will arrive for Stadia.
While players can expect their gear to magically reappear over the next few weeks, PCF are yet to figure out the inventory restoration process. This is a bit of an issue as players have already clocked in a lot of time building the best possible builds throughout their respective playthroughs.
In the patch notes, PCF outlined that “efforts to restore your items” are a separate process from today’s released patch. Restoring the inventory of affected players is still our highest priority, while today’s patch is intended to prevent the issue from continuing to occur.
The restoration process is run via our server database and does not require a patch to be implemented. We will have news of this very soon.”
This is particularly worrisome for all those who have spent hours on God Roll grinds – items with God Rolls push character builds to optimal heights in spite of the fact that weapon and armour drops come in varying quality and stats in the game.
So, if the items fail to restore at their original levels, it would mean a major loss of time and effort for players.
As of the time of writing, there is no confirmation on whether the fix works. But the PCF team is confident that it will (unlike the previous update) prevent a recurrence of the bug.
Additionally, the team plans to spend the weekend monitoring servers and listening to player feedback. Once everything looks solid, PCF will share more information about the inventory restoration process.
Outriders, even after a crazy good demo period, did not have a very smooth launch. But the players that couldn’t get access at the time and more have made their way back to the now immensely popular looter-shooter.
