9 Coolest Things The Ten Rings Can Do In Shang-Chi Movies

Shang-Chi’s biggest mystery currently is the Ten Rings. Marvel seems to have purposely revealed very little in the film and kept it all under the wraps. Yes, the post-credit scene might indicate something bigger in the play that might take us close to the origins, but nobody really knows what that could be.

But despite knowing so little, we have come to love the tricks and techniques both the Mandarin and Shang-Chi employed while using the Ten Rings. I loved watching Simu Liu fight with the bad guys. He is smooth, agile and with a martial arts background, he along with his team of stunt doubles, pulled off some of the coolest stunts Marvel has ever choreographed.

But. But But. When you see him with the ten rings his action game just elevates to a 10x or a 100x. Sure, it’s not until the end that it happens, but you got to admit the ring does make him look pretty cool.

Alright, here are 9 coolest things the Ten Rings could do in the Shang-Chi movies:

9. Makeshift Steps/Stairway

Shang-Chi is already an impeccable martial artist, thanks to his genes and practice right from the age of seven. So, when he got the rings, he could spontaneously plant rings in front of him to move to a higher position and attack his opponent in a battle. Furthermore, Shang-Chi’s agile footwork just made this trait of the rings quite handy.

8. Boomerang Projectiles

The wielder of Ten Rings could swiftly hurl the rings out of their arms as projectiles at their opponent, and the rings would automatically come back to the wielder’s arm all on their own.

If you have a deja vu, too, this sounds quite a bit like the Thor’s Hammer(s), Mjolnir and Stormbreaker. Both Shang-Chi and his father Wenwu (The Mandarin) could use this power of the Ten Rings so well.

7. Enhanced Leaps

The Ten Rings could also act as the propulsors where if the wielder thrust it into the ground, they could use the energy to leap to great heights and even use them to break their fall.

However, it’s still a little unclear if the Ten Rings can give you flight because we see Shang-Chi in the air for a little more than a few fleeting seconds in the final battle against the dark being, aka Soul-eater. Hopefully, we’ll see soon in the future.

6. Enhanced Fighting Skills

I know this one’s a no-brainer, but the Ten Rings elevate the martial art skills of its wielders. Not only because of all its cool powers, but its energy makes their every move far more lethal, make them more enduring, and they can pretty much fight anything and anyone with them. It’s essentially how Wenwu, The Mandarin, practically ruled the world for thousands of years.

5. Deflecting/Reflecting Any Kind Of Attack

Sticks and stones will not break the wielder’s bones because the rings can simply deflect them or even reflect them. In fact, it wasn’t just simple attacks but even bullets and arrows. This trait made the wielder way more formidable than they already were.

4. Energy Whip

What perhaps took whiplash quite a bit of time, energy, and tech to build, the Ten Rings could just do that in a second. All the wielder had to do was think of it and make that move. It was also one of those moves that Wenwu used pretty often whenever he wanted to fight against numerous men.

A small addition to that – The Ten Rings could also act as a simple energy rope that could hold onto the other people or restrain the opponents’ arms or legs.

3. Energy Blasts

Wenwu was particularly fond of this power of the Ten Rings, too, and used it against his own son in the final battle. The Ten Rings could create energy blasts similar to projectiles, except they are just energy that could hurl an opponent by several yards or even more depending on how strong they are.

2. Energy Explosive

Energy Explosive

This one’s particularly my favorite and perhaps even makes me curious. Shang-Chi could bring the rings together to create this shape of a sphere and make the rings spin and rotate violently to create a ball of energy that would act as an explosive when released. It adds that drama you need and honestly reminds me of Goku going Kamehameha!

1. Immortality

The coolest power of the Ten Rings is immortality. The wielder will not age a single day as long as they have them on their arms. This power helped Wenwu harness the ring’s powers in his own time, build a terrorist organization, and work in the shadows to control the globe.

This one might not be considered the coolest if you are in the middle of an existential crisis or believe in nihilism. But you got to admit; it’s the best thing a wielder like Wenwu could get out of the rings.

He even brought down America to its knees in Iron Man 3. That’s right. It wasn’t Aldrich Killian but Wenwu, who was the real Mandarin. I’m still processing that.

But despite all these powers, there’s still a lot of clarity we all need as to what these rings are, where they come from, what’s their true potential and how they fit into the larger Marvel narrative. I guess we’ll have all our answers in the future. I hope it’s soon.
