1,310 and Counting: Find Out Why WoW Players Are Starting from Scratch!

Over 1000 World of Warcraft players are coming together to create a “fresh levelling experience” in the classic version of the game.

A report by Eurogamer revealed that the development aims to repair all the botting and inflated economy issues that the classic multiplayer has been facing. Titled The Fresh Crusade, players plan to create new characters on a low population server to “reboot” the WoW Classic experience as a precursor to the launch of the upcoming Burning Crusade expansion.

Botting and inflated economies issues work in tandem, with the former facilitating Real Money Transactions (RMTs) that in turn cause inflated economies across multiple realms. While all of WoW Classic is replete with these issues, they are more common on high population servers. Hence, the Crusade’s plans to migrate to a more peaceful realm.

Caszhar, the player who kicked off the project, told Eurogamer on Discord that there are a lot of players out there who want to experience the Classic version of the game on a server that has a “fresh” launch feeling to it. A server that offers the levelling and community experience as it was in the first release.

Caszhar is of the opinion that if all the players start together, the economy will be on more of an even playing ground compared to the higher/mid-size population servers.

There is also the worry of there being no concrete indication of what will happen to the old servers after the release of Burning Crusade.

“Blizzard announced Burning Crusade Classic with no fresh servers and no mention of what will happen to the existing low population / dead servers, except hinting there could be the possible creation of new servers post-Burning Crusade Classic launch.”

The Fresh Crusade is due to go live on March 5 at 7 PM server time and will take place on a yet-to-be-decided European realm. Caszhar hopes to hit 2000 players on the Discord Community by Friday so that they can be split into both Alliance and Horde.

It is a generous cause on the part of the players to try and protect the sanctity of the OG World of Warcraft. If the players manage to pull this off, other new and returning players will get to experience the legendary multiplayer game as it was on release in 2004; which is quite a cool feat to be honest.
