I. Melbourne Doubles as Province, Rhode Island
The majority of the film is shot in the city of Melbourne, Australia. According to Variety, the crew also received financial assistance from the Victoria state government’s Victorian Screen Incentive programs and the Australian government’s Location Incentive.
Moreover, the filming provided jobs for more than 400 locals and boosted the Australian economy by $49.7 million.
II. The Golden Trident Casino is filmed at the famous Crown Casino in Melbourne
Even the scenes set in Atlantic City are shot in Melbourne. In the initial parts of the film, the trio sneaks off to go to a Marc Rebillet concert. After the concert, they meet at the fictional Golden Trident Casino, shot at the famous Crown Casino inside the Crown Melbourne Hotel.
The hotel lies on Whiteman Street, south of the Yarra River bank in Melbourne.
III. Monash Children’s Hospital was the location for the Hospital Scenes
In the film, Dean tells JT that his wife is in labor, and they rush to Providence for her birth. The scene is followed by JT running through a hospital.
The scenes are shot at Monash Children’s Hospital in the Clayton suburb of Melbourne.
IV. The Exterior Hospital & Summerhayes Alley Way Scenes were Filmed at RMIT University
The scenes outside the Monash Hospital are filmed at Bowen Street at RMIT Hospital in Melbourne. The hospital scene opens with a shot showing the Providence Birthing Center sign on the walls of the university-turned-hospital’s entrance.
Bowen Street is again used as the alleyway outside the Summerhayes office building.
V. The Exterior Shots of the Summerhayes Office Building featured the ANZ World Headquarters
Several scenes of Ricky Stanicky occur inside and outside the Summerhayes office building.
However, the real location used for the set is the Queen & Collins building located at 100 Queen Street in Melbourne. The building houses the ANZ headquarters for the last 25 years.
VI. The Bris and Baby Shower Scenes Were Shot in the Surry Hills Suburbs
In the film, Dean and his girlfriend Erin are shown to prepare for JT and his wife Susan’s baby shower at home. Later, when the baby is born, Susan and JT host their baby’s Bris ceremony at home, where everyone meets Rod-as-Ricky.
All these interior and suburban scenes are shot in the Surrey Hills suburbs of Melbourne.
VII. The Bowling Alley Scene is Filmed at Oz Tenpin Greensborough Lanes in Bundoora
In one scene, the whole team goes bowling together, and a comedy of errors follow.
Inside the bowling alley, Susan’s cousin Carly gets her hair stuck to the pinsetter, causing chaos as all the bowling balls continue to hit her head until Rickey comes to the rescue.
The entire scene is shot at Oz Tenpin Greensborough Lanes in the Bundoora suburb of Melbourne.
VIII. The Bar Scene is Filmed at The Royston Hotel Bar In Richmond
In the latter half of the film, Dean and Wes meet at a bar, and Dean begins to accept that the Ricky Stanicky lie will be exposed very soon. In these desperate times, the two friends have an emotional conversation about Dean’s tumultuous childhood.

IX. The Capital Golf Course is where the Wannemoisett Country Club Scenes are Shot
In the film, Erin does a news piece about a duck sitting on a gold ball at the Wannemoisett Country Club. However, the scene is shot at the Capital Gold Course in the Heatherton area in Melbourne.
We see the location again at the end of the film when Summerhayes hosts a party for Rick’s ‘Hero of the Week’ segment, which shows the interior and exterior of the country club.

I. The Airport Scenes are shot at the Avalon Airport
During the trio’s mad rush from Atlantic City to Providence, there is a scene where they go through the security check at the Atlantic City International Airport. Thereafter, they pick up Rod, aka Ricky, from the Rhode Island T.F. Green International Airport.
