Wolverine gameplay leak bears resemblance to God of War, Uncharted, Last of Us

In this day and age, where the internet connects everything, game developers are struggling to keep their bays shut to hackers and data miners.

Developers of Wolverine, Insomniac Games, were hacked a couple of weeks back, leaking gameplay from an early build of Wolverine. According to fans, the game shares surface-level similarities to The Last of Us, God of War, and Uncharted, which is quite intriguing.

The fact that the Wolverine has a surface level similarity to The Last of Us is pretty interesting. Fans are happy that the upcoming Wolverine is taking pages out of the book of tried and tested formulae by Naughty Dog Entertainment.

At the start of the leaked clip, Logan is wearing a plaid shirt like Joel at a bar. The only difference is that this shirt is red instead of Joel’s usual green.

There’s also a hint of Logan’s tracking capabilities when peeking around the cover, just like any other open-world game. However, the Wolverine’s peeking around the body is particularly reminiscent of The Last of Us.

There are also instances of creeping through tall grass for gruesome stealth kills. Hand-to-hand combat and brutal finishers which strengthen the theory that Wolverine will have an M rating.

Kratos’ Spartan Range ability from God of War was also spotted during the leaked Wolverine gameplay. This is Logan’s “Berserker Ability” from the Marvel comics.

The Berserker Ability allows Logan to increase his damage and kill his opponents with one deft blow. It remains to be seen what unique twists Insomniac brings with other traits that could probably be added to the Wolverine.

The wall-running in the leaked video is similar to 2023’s Star Wars Jedi: Survivor. The leaked video also spotted a very Uncharted-esque scene when Logan held onto a speedboat darting across the water’s surface. This was very Nathan Drake-ish.

While all of this is speculation, there is no shame in borrowing the best of other games that have had great success in the market. One can hope that Wolverine will succeed like its predecessor – Marvel’s Spider-Man.
