Ms. Marvel Season 1 concluded with Kamala Khan finally assuming her identity as the superhero she always dreamt of being. However, this was short-lived, as, in the post-credits scene, she warps into something else or rather someone else—Captain Marvel.
So, will there be a Season 2 of Ms. Marvel? Let’s find out.
Ms. Marvel has not been renewed for a second season yet. The end slate in Episode 6 said that Ms. Marvel will return in The Marvels, slated to release in 2023.
Kamala Khan’s arc in the show was like a classic superhero origin story. If anything, it was more woke and relatable to current times, but the tropes were all too similar.
In terms of the larger narrative, it established two significant players who might appear in the future: the DODC (Department of Damage Control) and Kamran. The DODC had previously also appeared in Spider-Man: No Way Home.
At the time, the agency didn’t have a significant role, but in this show, they did. However, their motive remains unclear. Are they against enhanced beings, or are they just Islamophobic? It did seem like the latter was more prevalent, but it isn’t clear yet.
On the other hand, Kamran escapes, thanks to Kamala. However, he still has unresolved issues when it comes to his mother, his powers, and how he feels about the DODC. He shares the same emotions as Magneto from the X-Men franchise. His words, “They’ll never see us as one of them,” clearly indicate this.
In the comics, Kamran tries to get Kamala on his side to eradicate all the non-Inhumans, but she refuses to join him. This forms the foundation of their rivalry.
However, the MCU is known to steer away from the source material, and we don’t know how these arcs will progress further. The vital question, for now, is if all this will be explored in Season 2 of Ms. Marvel.
Unfortunately, we don’t have an answer. MCU hasn’t confirmed a second season, and it is most likely that Ms. Marvel will next be seen in The Marvels. If the appearance of Captain Marvel wasn’t enough, the end slate confirmed this.
It said, “Ms. Marvel will return in The Marvels.” So even if there is a Season 2 of Ms. Marvel, it will release only after The Marvels. Considering the various shows and movies set to release next year, there seems to be no free slot for Ms. Marvel Season 2.
So, all the questions we have about the characters and story will have to wait until The Marvels, which will release on July 28, 2023. Until then, just wait and watch!
