The Equalizer 4: Is Denzel Washington Returning for Another Mission?

The Equalizer 3 is out now, and we’ve all got one question in our mind: if we’re getting The Equalizer 4. The third installment ended with Robert McCall taking an unexpected route away from his life of crime.

We cannot completely negate the chances of McCall changing his mind and returning to the world of crime again in another installment. But otherwise, The Equalizer 3 is widely regarded as the last chapter of the franchise.

The Equalizer 3 is unlikely to get a sequel featuring Robert McCall as he retired in the third film. However, the franchise can continue with another protagonist, or take a different route.

1. Will there be ‘The Equalizer 4’?

As of now, there is no official confirmation about the making of The Equalizer 4. Whether or not the franchise will get a sequel will depend on the third film’s box office performance, fans’ demands and overall availability of the cast.

As of now, the SAG-AFTRA and WGA strikes are ongoing, making it difficult to announce or bring any film into the production stage. If at all The Equalizer 4 happens, it will take some time.

Moreover, The Equalizer 3 more or less serves a concluding part. So, even if there isn’t a fourth film, the franchise will not be affected in terms of its plot. So, the chance of the franchise getting a fourth film is 50-50.

2. What will ‘The Equalizer 4’ be about?

While it is true that McCall retired in the end of The Equalizer 3, there are many other ways in which the Equalizer franchise can continue. So, there is a fair chance of a fourth installment.

The director, Antoine Fuqua, has hinted at the possibility of a fourth film with a younger version of McCall or his son John David, played by Denzel Washington’s real-life son, but nothing is confirmed.

The Equalizer 3 ends on a satisfying note, but it does not rule out a future sequel. A fourth film could follow McCall as he resumes his vigilante activities and justify his return from retirement. Collins, his new partner, could also seek his assistance for a mission that requires his unique skills. A fourth film is not certain, but it could happen if the third film is successful, and Denzel agrees to reprise his role.

The Equalizer 3 is an American vigilante action film directed by Antoine Fuqua. It is the sequel to the 2018 film The Equalizer 2, which was based on the TV series of the same name. The film stars Denzel Washington and Dakota Fanning.

It follows retired U.S. Marine and former DIA officer Robert McCall. The film is the fifth collaboration between Washington and Fuqua, following Training Day (2001), The Equalizer (2014), The Magnificent Seven (2016), and The Equalizer 2 (2018).
