The much-anticipated match between Seth Rollins and Drew McIntyre at Crown Jewels in Saudi Arabia was one of the most competitive matches of the evening.
Although we expected McIntyre to finally have his big moment and win the World Heavyweight Championship title from Rollins, the match did not go as expected.
Seth Rollins defeated Drew McIntyre in the World Heavyweight Title match at Crown Jewel, retaining his title for the third time. Rollins defeated McIntyre via pinfall after hitting him with a Pedigree.
The results have got mixed reactions from fans, many of whom were rooting for Drew McIntyre. The crowd was cheering for McIntyre for most of the match, but Rollins still managed to retain his title. However, with the Survivor Series coming up, there’s another big opportunity for McIntyre to claim the WHC Title from Seth Rollins.
Drew McIntyre is likely to win the World Heavyweight Championship Title in the Survivor Series. It is one of the biggest events in WWE and the perfect stage for McIntyre to win his deserving title. It would also give Rollins his much-needed break.
Is Seth Rollins Retaining the WHC Title Justified?
Seth Rollins retaining the title at Crown Jewel does not seem justified in terms of his storyline. But it will be the right decision in the long run if McIntyre claims the title in the Survivor Series, on a much grander scale than Crown Jewel.
There are many reasons why we believe Drew McIntyre should have claimed the title from Rollins in Crown Jewel itself. Fans were looking forward to McIntyre’s big moment, but it seems like we’ve to wait for a longer time.
First of all, Drew McIntyre is one of the most loved superstars in WWE at this point. If anyone should take the WHC title from Seth Rollins, it should ideally be McIntyre, as he can carry a title as reputed as the WHC Title.
Moreover, he has defeated stars like Brock Lesnar and Roman Reigns in the past, which shows his power and why he is one of the few stars who can defeat Rollins.
McIntyre won the WWE Championship during the pandemic era in 2020 at Wrestlemania 36 by defeating Brock Lesnar. Ideally, this should have been the poetic closure to his storyline. But unfortunately, given the restrictions at that time, he could not enjoy or celebrate his title with his fans.
Therefore, it makes sense for Drew to win the WHC title from Seth Rollins so that his storyline gets the closure that it deserves. The timing couldn’t be more perfect, especially since Seth, too, needs some time off at this point.
Rollins has been suffering from a few back injuries for a while now, and his storyline has been building up to a point where he takes a break. Drew is the best candidate to take the title off his back right now, given his massive fanbase and star power.
Seth Rollins faced stars like Finn Balor and Shinsuke Nakamura, who challenged him for the title but defeated both.
For stars like Balor and Nakamura, it makes sense because neither of them had the power to match up to Seth Rollins. It would not be a good decision for them to claim the title from him, especially since it would upset fans.
But none of this applies to McIntyre, so there’s a high chance that it will ultimately be him who will claim the WHC Title from Seth Rollins. This way, Drew’s story can get the closure it deserves and Rollins can get a much-needed break.
Is the Feud Between Rollins and McIntyre Over?
The feud between Seth Rollins and Drew McIntyre is not over yet. There’s a high chance that there will be a rematch between the two in the Survivor Series, resulting in Drew claiming the WHC title.
Since the Survivor Series is one of the four big events of WWE, there’s a good chance that McIntyre will take revenge for the match at Crown Jewel. The feud between two of the biggest superstars in WWE should have a grand ending, and Survivor Series seems to be the best event for it to happen.
This is not the first time Seth Rollins has had a feud with another superstar over the WHC Title. He has had a long-standing rivalry with Finn Balor over the WHC Title. It began when Balor first defeated Rollins at SummerSlam to become the Universal Champion. However, he had to let go of the title because of a shoulder injury.
Since then, the two have had an ongoing rivalry over the title. Seth Rollins won the World Heavyweight Championship title from Cody Rhodes in 2023, after which Balor challenged him for the title at Money in the Bank.
As expected, Rollins retained the title. He had a rematch with Balor at SummerSlam but still retained his title. As I mentioned above, it makes sense that Finn could not win the title from Seth as he does not have the power or the influence to carry a title of this stature.
The same can be said about Seth’s rivalry with Shinsuke Nakamura. Nakamura challenged Rollins for the WHC title at Fastlane 2023, but the latter retained the title.
The two had a rematch in SummerSlam 2023, but Nakamura was unable to claim the title. Again, superstars like Nakamura and Balor aren’t ideal to claim a title of this stature from Rollins.
As of now, Drew McIntyre is one of the two contenders who have the ability to defeat Seth Rollins and claim the title. Rollins had a rematch with both Balor and Nakamura, so it is expected that history will repeat itself with Drew McIntyre. However, our guess is that this time, the results will be different.
Will Drew McIntyre Win the WHC Title in the Survivor Series?
Drew McIntyre is likely to win the World Heavyweight Championship Title from Seth Rollins in the Survivor Series 2023. If he does not win, Rollins will lose the title to either Gunther or him in Wrestemania.
The only possible reason why Drew did not win in Crown Jewels is that it is not a big WWE event. Crown Jewel is not one of the most important events in WWE, so claiming the title on that platform would not do justice to the power of McIntyre.
It seems like there are bigger things waiting for McIntyre. Our guess is that Rollins will have a rematch with McIntyre over the title in the Survivor Series, and this time, Drew will win.
The Survivor Series is one of the most important events in WWE, so Drew winning the WHC title on such a platform will give him the boost that he always deserved.
If Seth Rollins retains the title once again, then Drew might get his next opportunity during Wrestlemania in April next year. However, it doesn’t make sense for the makers to wait so long to end this feud. So, Drew winning in the Survivor Series is most likely.
Can Seth Rollins Retain the WHC Title in the Survivor Series?
Seth Rollins will not retain the WHC Title in the future. His storyline demands him to take a break, while McIntyre deserves his much-awaited victory. Even if Rollins retains the title in the Survivor Series, he will lose it in Wrestemania.
Rollins needs to take a break from WWE and television altogether since the storyline about his injuries has been going on for a while now. So, a superstar who can match up to his power needs to win the title from him so that he can go on a break, and it can be a boost for another superstar like Gunther or McIntyre.
But if there’s a rematch between Rollins and McIntyre and the former retains the WHC title in the Survivor Series, there is no way he will lose in events like the Elimination Chamber or Royal Rumble. These events aren’t the biggest in WWE, so a match of such importance can’t take place in these events.
In that case, Rollins can lose the title in Wrestlemania 40, scheduled to take place in April 2024. Only two superstars can claim the title from him in the event: Drew McIntyre and Gunther.
There is a chance of Gunther defeating Rollins to claim the WHC title, but that might be unfair for McIntyre. As I said earlier, McIntyre deserves this moment, and he is the best candidate to claim such an important title. While Gunther too is one of the most powerful names in WWE right now, it will be better if Drew wins it from Rollins in the Survivor Series itself.
