From CM Punk to Edge: The Expected Entries and Exits in the WWE 2K24 Roster

Summary:

  • CM Punk is likely to be a part of WWE 2K24, especially as a DLC character. Official confirmation is awaited.
  • WWE 2K24 will not include superstars like Edge, Goldberg and Mustafa Ali who’ve left the company this year.
  • WWE 2K24 will include wrestlers like Jade Cargill, Carlito and Lexis King who’ve recently joined WWE.

WWE 2K24 will be quite exciting this year, especially with so many new entries and exits!

After CM Punk’s shocking return to WWE in November, fans of the video game are looking forward to playing as him in the 2K24 edition. The WWE video game has managed to include last-minute entries and exits quite well, especially if we look at previous years.

Therefore, even if not in the main roster, many new WWE additions are expected as DLC characters (downloadable content) in the game’s next edition.

As we gear up for the release of WWE 2K24 and some more solid information during the Royal Rumble in January, here’s a quick look at the status of some of the biggest names we’re expecting in WWE 2K24.

Will CM Punk be in WWE 2K24?

CM Punk has not been officially announced for WWE 2K24, likely due to his sudden appearance in WWE. Chicago’s favorite wrestler will not be there for the official release because the game has already been developed. CM Punk will join the WWE 2K24 roster later on via a DLC.

After almost a decade, CM Punk returned to WWE in the Survivor Series in November 2023. The hype for Punk has increased quite a bit after his unexpected comeback. 2K Sports should use this opportunity to bring him back to WWE 2K24.

Certain wrestlers are not included in the upcoming rosters because they arrive too late for them to be included in the game. But Punk arrived right on time in November 2023.

There’s ample time for 2K Sports to include him in WWE 2K24, which is expected to be released around March 2024. Punk’s appearance in WWE 2K24 would mark his first WWE video game in a decade.

Punk first appeared in the WWE video games in WWE SmackDown vs. Raw 2008. He was a part of every edition of the games until 2015. His last appearance was in WWE 2K24, after which he left the company.

Punk was also the cover star of WWE 2K13, so there’s no doubt about his popularity. As one of the most popular wrestlers in the world, Punk’s inclusion in the upcoming edition will be a huge selling point for the game.

Moreover, since 2014, there has been a new entry in the game every year. There’s no reason why WWE 2K24 will be an exception, especially after new entries like CM Punk, Lexis King and Jade Cargill in WWE.

Cody Rhodes also made a comeback in the WWE video games last year after his shocking return in Wrestlemania 38. Rhodes’ return gave WWE 2K23 the much-needed hype, so all eyes are on Punk’s return now.

If all goes well, CM Punk will definitely be on the roster of playable wrestlers in WWE 2K24. Going by the past, we are expected to get confirmed details about WWE 2K24 in the upcoming Royal Rumble in January.

Punk’s status in AEW Fight Forever, especially after his sudden exit from the company, is also in the limelight.

Will CM Punk be removed from AEW Fight Forever?

Punk will not be removed from the next edition of AEW Fight Forever. Despite his massive backstage brawl with The Elite in All Out, AEW has confirmed that Punk will feature in their next game instalment.

Punk’s charisma and controversies are unknown to none, and his inclusion is one of the game’s major selling points. Moreover, AEW Fight Forever will be rated ‘T’ for Teen, meaning Punk’s extravagant attitude and edgy persona will not be toned down.

The fans will get to play with Punk at the peak of his powers and attitude in AEW Fight Forever for one more edition!

Will Edge be a part of WWE 2K24?

Edge will not be a part of WWE 2K24. He has been in every major WWE game since WWF Attitude in 1999, but his AEW contract will end his 24-year streak, as he’s no longer a part of WWE.

Edge shocked the wrestling fraternity when he signed a deal with AEW in 2023. So, fans who want to play as him in WWE 2K24 will have to rely on other options like AEW Fight Forever.

WWE 2K24 will feature only current WWE legends and superstars. Stars who’ve left WWE in the past have not been included in the next rosters. Edge is not likely to be an exception.

Unless there’s some miracle like a magic clause in his AEW contract, Edge will not be a part of WWE 2K24. The same can be said about Goldberg, Ronda Rousey, Dolph Ziggler, Shelton Benjamin, and Mustafa Ali. These superstars are no longer a part of WWE and will not be included in the roster.

Will Lexis King and Jade Cargill be in WWE 2K24?

Jade Cargill has not made her official debut yet, but she may be in WWE 2K24, as she is likely to have a prominent role next year.

Lexis King made his NXT debut in October. King is also expected to be a part of the NXT roster as a DLC character.

Carlito is another wrestler who returned this year and could be in WWE 2K24. The former US champion and Kairi Sane is expected to be on the roster. Sane recently rejoined WWE.

When will WWE 2K24 be released?

The release date for WWE 2K24 has not been officially announced yet, but it is expected to be in March 2024, based on the previous release patterns of the series.

WWE 2K23 arrived a couple of weeks before Wrestlemania on March 17. WWE 2K22 also arrived in March. If WWE 2K24 also releases in March, it will be a trend for the new game editions to come out in March.

The game will be available for PlayStation 5, PS4, Xbox Series XS, Xbox One, and PC via Steam.
