A Complete List of Everyone Who Dies in Mr. and Mrs Smith Season 1

Amazon’s new series Mr. & Mrs. Smith season 1 features a barrage of deaths throughout its eight-episode duration.

The 2024 adaptation of the 2005 comedy film starring Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt is more of a remix of the original with fresh new punches. Starring Maya Erskine and Donald Glover, the series explores the complex interpersonal relationships between the characters while maintaining a comedic undertone throughout. 

Fans of Glover’s other works, especially his award-winning show Atlanta, will find many familiar elements in the series. In season 1, the series featured a number of deaths, including some major ones that we cannot confirm.

The makers left us with an ambiguous ending, but we’ve done our best to bring you a comprehensive list of everyone who dies in Mr and Mrs Smith season 1.

1. Does someone die in Mr. & Mrs. Smith season 1?

There are ten confirmed deaths in Mr. & Mrs. Smith season 1. However, many other characters could also have been killed, but there is no way of confirming it. 

All the characters who die in Mr. & Mrs. Smith season 1 in chronological order is given below:

• John Smith (Alexander Skarsgård): 

John Smith is killed within the first few minutes of the season premiere. 

The finale reveals that Jane & John are probably behind John Smith’s death by a sniper shot.

• Jane Smith (Eiza Gonzalez): 

Jane Smith dies minutes after John Smith gets shot in the season premiere. It is likely that the company no longer required John & Jane Smith, and they were the victims of Moura and Posey Jane.

• Garden Party Host: 

The Garden Party host is killed by a bomb blast after John and Jane deliver an unidentified package disguised as a cake. 

Besides being the target of their first mission, not much information is provided about the woman referred to as the Garden Party Host.

• Eric Shane: 

In Mr. & Mrs. Smith episode 2, Eric Shane is killed by a lethal dose of truth serum by John and Jane. 

Since Eric wasn’t supposed to die, this mistake leads to the couples’ first failed mission. 

• Unidentified John Smith: 

Glover’s John and Erskine’s Jane are sent on a high-risk mission to kill them both. However, they defy all odds and survive. 

Posey’s Jane and Moura’s John told them to kill another unidentified John, which they do successfully.

• Bucket: 

Bucket is killed in Mr. & Mrs. Smith episode 6 as he is one of the targets of the power couple. 

John shoots him after his cover gets blown during a card match between himself, Bucket, Rodrick, and Terrence.

• Rodrick: 

In the same episode, Jane shoots and kills two of Buckets’ compatriots. One of them is Rodrick. 

It is unclear why the power couple targets Terrence, but he becomes the subject of their couple’s therapy session in episode 6.

• Terrence: 

Terrence is the third and final target killed in the boy’s night mission in season 6. Jane shoots him with his sniper rifle after she gets bored of John taking it slow and playing it his way. 

Little is known about Rodrick, Terrence, and Bucket, but it can be assumed that they were three of the various targets John and Jane are tasked to kill without knowing why.

• Seedy Man: 

In episode 6, Jane is seen fighting the Seedy Man all the way to the rooftop of a building. 

After an intense combat, Jane finally tosses him off the building before saying an iconic catchphrase. It is unclear who Seedy Man is and why the company is targeting him.

• Max: 

Max’s death is the most tragic and disheartening death in the entire series.

Janes’s loyal cat and partner is shot in the crossfire between Moura’s John, Posey’s Jane, and Erskine’s Jane in the season 1 finale.
