Season 1 of The Four Seasons follows three longtime couples—Kate and Jack, Nick and Anne, and Danny and Claude—who share a tradition of taking four seasonal vacations together each year.

The series begins with the group’s dynamic shaken when Nick announces he is divorcing Anne and has started a relationship with a much younger woman, Ginny. This revelation disrupts their close-knit friendship and sets off a chain of emotional challenges.

As the friends embark on their summer vacation, tensions rise. Anne chooses to vacation separately, while the others try to adjust to the new reality. Kate and Jack face their marital struggles, with Kate feeling increasingly disconnected.

Danny, recovering from heart surgery, and Claude navigate their relationship amid the upheaval. Throughout the seasonal trips, the series explores themes of love, loss, and the complexities of long-term friendships.

The season reaches a heartbreaking turning point during the winter vacation when Nick dies in a car accident. The group is devastated by the sudden loss, and the news has a profound impact on each member in different ways. Adding to the emotional turmoil, Ginny reveals that she is pregnant with Nick’s child, further complicating the group’s dynamics.

Season 1 closes with the friends grappling with grief, strained relationships, and the uncertain future of their friendship. This mix of humor, heartfelt moments, and real-life struggles makes the show a compelling exploration of how people grow and change together over time, setting the stage for an eagerly awaited Season 2.

While Netflix and the showrunners are keeping most details under wraps, several key plot threads are expected to shape Season 2:

  • Ginny’s Pregnancy: Ginny’s announcement that she is pregnant with Nick’s child will be a major storyline. Her evolving relationship with Anne, Nick’s ex-wife, and with the rest of the group will add emotional complexity and likely drive much of the season’s drama.
  • Group Dynamics After Tragedy: The loss of Nick will force the remaining friends to reevaluate their relationships and their own lives. The showrunners have hinted that the heart of the series remains the group’s dynamic, but with Nick gone, new tensions and alliances are sure to emerge.
  • Four Seasonal Vacations: The signature structure of the show—one vacation per season—will continue, offering fresh settings and opportunities for both comedy and conflict.
  • Relationship Challenges: As the group grapples with grief and change, expect more exploration of long-term relationships, marriage, and friendship. The show will delve into what happens when life throws unexpected challenges at bonds that have lasted for decades.

Will “The Four Seasons” Season 2 Stay True to the Original Film?

While the series is inspired by the 1981 film starring Alan Alda, it has established its own identity, blending nostalgia with contemporary issues and humor.

Fans of the original movie will appreciate the show’s respectful nods, but The Four Seasons stands on its own as a modern, character-driven dramedy.
