Gnome Sweet Gnome: A Quick Guide to Gnomes in Grow a Garden Roblox

Gnomes in Grow a Garden Roblox are quirky collectables you can place around your garden—but that’s about it.

They don’t offer gameplay perks or garden upgrades: no buffs, no bonuses, just charm, whimsy, and the occasional stylish hat.

So why collect gnomes?

For many players, it’s the fun of collecting unique items and completing a set. Others enjoy using gnomes to create little stories throughout their garden.

So if you want to collect some for your garden too, here’s how to get these little garden fellas.

1. What Do Gnomes Do in Grow a Garden Roblox?

In Roblox Grow a Garden, gnomes are purely decorative items that players can collect and place in their gardens.

While they don’t provide buffs or influence gameplay mechanics—like speeding up plant growth or giving resource bonuses—they’re a fun and whimsical way to customize your space.

From their quirky appearances to their themed styles, gnomes are all about aesthetics. Gnomes are also featured in various cosmetic updates, allowing players to customize their gardens with a range of styles and themes.

Think of them as decorative figurines that let you customize your digital garden. They’re great for players who enjoy collecting rare items, designing creative garden layouts, or just want to add personality to their space.

Players can acquire gnomes by purchasing Gnome Crates from the Gnome Merchant, a traveling vendor who appears periodically in the game. These crates contain a random assortment of gnomes, with varying chances of obtaining specific types.

To start your collection, you’ll need to visit the Gnome Merchant, a special Travelling Merchant introduced in the Mega Harvest update.

Every now and then, a server-wide alert will announce the arrival of a Traveling Merchant. There are currently five types of merchants, including the Gnome Merchant, who sets up shop between the Seed Shop and the first garden plot.

When he appears, he stays for 30 minutes before vanishing again, giving players a limited window to check out his inventory. Similar to garden furniture, gnomes come in crates of varying rarity, prices, and opening times.

Each crate costs in-game currency (Sheckles) and contains one random gnome, determined by RNG (random number generation)—so luck plays a big role in which gnome you get!

Here are the crates we’ve seen so far:
