Be Afflicted with Hunger, Thirst, & Disease with This Elden Ring Mod

Life in the Lands Between is as challenging as it gets since there is no shortage of enemies who can bring you down to your knees and wipe the floor with you. If that wasn’t enough for you, a mod is set to make Elden Ring more burdensome than ever by afflicting Tarnished with survival features.

Called Elden Ring: Survival Mode, the mod aims to make your character’s journey harder by bringing hunger, thirst, disease, heat, cold, extensive crafting, and many more survivability mechanics to the fantasy epic. It has been developed by Grimrukh and will roll out on June 6, 2022.

If you are no stranger to Soulsborne games, chances are you have heard of Grimrukh from the well-received Dark Souls: Nightfall and Dark Souls: Daughters of Ash mods.

With this renowned modder now trying to breathe a new life into the title through Elden Ring: Survival Mode, you can expect it to pack many new extensive features.

As seen in the gameplay footage, the mod adds over 400 recipes to the title to let players craft a vast number of different weapons and consumables.

Another prominent feature that Elden Ring: Survival mode looks to bring forth is the addition of a region-specific disease called the Plague of Limgrave, which will quicken the effects of hunger and thirst when afflicted.

Thankfully, there are cures for this illness as well, but the most exciting part is that the Tarnished can build immunities for the same over time. “Diseases cured are less likely to be caught a second time, and a second cure will bestow full immunity,” Grimrukh explained.

If you download this mod, you will also have to ensure that your character is well-fed, like in any other survival game. Therefore, you will have to hunt animals and consume their meat.

Climate is something you’ll have to pay attention to as well. When in the bone-chilling locations of the Lands Between, you will have to keep the Tarnished all warm and cozy by sipping some hot soup.

Last but not the least, another way through which the mod will try to make Elden Ring more deadly is by making nights darker than before. Going by the mod description, it looks like only the brave will take on the challenges it poses.

Fortunately, the mod will come with “lots of options” for configuration, giving players the freedom to choose between the features they want enabled. This means that if you are a fan of dark nights but not too fond of the hunger and thirst systems, you can simply disable the said survivability options.
