Geralt Is Ready For A Sword Fight In New Still From The Witcher S2

Toss a coin to your Witcher when he returns to Netflix in December, but for now, you have to make do with an image of Geralt of Rivia on the set of The Witcher.

The new on-set image released by Empire shows Henry Cavill in character as the Witcher, posing with a sword and his iconic potion-induced black eyes.

Geralt looks like he’s about to kill something/someone, in what looks like Kaer Morhen, where, in a previous clip, we’d seen him wake Ciri up to help her escape, all the while drinking the potion that turns his eyes pitch black.

The Witcher series, adapted from Andrzej Sapkowski’s book series of the same name (also the basis of the popular video game franchise), introduced new fans to the fantasy world when the audience was longing for something that could satiate their Game Of Thrones hunger.

Season 1 ends with all three timelines coming to a single point where Geralt finally meets Ciri, and Yennefer is injured at the Battle of Sodden Hill.

Season 2 might not have different timelines as it was only necessary to establish the characters throughout the first one.

With eight episodes announced for season 2, Geralt is training Ciri at Kaer Morhen whilst preparing to fight more monsters (and probably looking for Yennefer).

Alongside Cavill, season 2 stars series regulars Anya Chalotra, Freya Allan, and Joey Batey with newcomers Kim Bodnia, Yasen Atour, Agnes Bjorn, Paul Bullion, Basil Eidenbenz, Aisha Fabienne Ross, Kristofer Hivju, and Mecia Simson, among others.

Netflix has already announced that it has renewed the series for a third season, which will start filming in 2022.

Get ready for another earworm, sang by our very own bard, Jaskier, as The Witcher season 2 is scheduled to premiere on Netflix on December 17.
