The Walking Dead’s Maggi-Negan spinoff Dead City is due this June on AMC and airing on TV – but there’s been a slight change for the premiere on the streaming platform. Don’t worry; it’s good news. The first episode of the six-part series was due to hit AMC at 10 P.M. ET (7:00 P.M. PDT) on Sunday, June 18, 2023. However, the timing was moved up.
As reported by Comicbook, AMC changed the show’s episode schedule, lining up its premiere on AMC on the third Sunday of June at 9:00 P.M. ET (6:00 P.M. PDT). The subsequent episodes will be released weekly in the new time slot.
AMC+ viewers get an advantage – the first episode of Dead City will air on June 15 for them at the 9 PM slot, and new episodes will follow every Thursday. To summarise, The Walking Dead spinoff, which will pick up from Fear the Walking Dead’s midseason finale, will now air an hour earlier than previously revealed.
The series will focus on Maggie and Negan, who traveled to New York to save the former’s son Hershel who was kidnapped by a mysterious new villain who we only know as The Croat. Negan has some connection to the enemy, and Pearlie will be looking for him at the antagonist’s behest, so we know this is so much more than a rescue mission.
Lauren Cohen, who plays Maggie in the TWD franchise, has also teased that the two will not be hunting the dead and Croat alone. Newcomers Ginnie and Jano will accompany them across a changed Manhattan while they make their way to Hershel.
The Walking Dead: Dead City’s change in schedule aligns with the flagship series, which came to an end in 2022. The spinoff will set the tone for other spinoffs and continuation of the franchise, and we’re hoping it’s good.
