The First Omen Set to Make A Major Change in Damien’s Origin Theory

The First Omen will deal with the birth of Damien from The Omen, and the trailer features a major retcon. It is common for horror films to build their own franchise, and The Omen has been the latest addition to the trend.

The Omen franchise is now set to deal with the events before the 1976 film via a prequel. Arkansha Stevenson will direct the film, titled The First Omen, and will deal with the origins of Damien, who was revealed to be the Antichrist in the original film.

The film will feature Margaret Daino, an American woman who went to Rome to work at an orphanage. Margaret meets Carlita Skianna, a girl who has been living there for the longest time. Margaret starts giving her more attention.

However, she soon sees strange things happen around her and learns that there’s a conspiracy to bring the birth of the Antichrist. The First Omen is expected to address questions about Damien’s birth and his mother.

Richard Donner’s original film, The Omen, had multiple suggestions regarding Damien’s origins. The First Omen is set to address the most bizarre bits of the narrative.

In the original movie, Robert Thorn adopts Damien following the death of Thorn’s biological child at birth. To keep the secret from his wife, Kathy, Robert listens to Father Spiletto’s advice. He agrees to adopt an orphan whose birth coincided with his own child’s death and whose mother also died during childbirth.

Robert thought the child had no family alive, but when he realized Damien was not a normal child, he probed further. He discovered Maria Scianna’s grave, who was Damien’s supposed mother. However, when they dug up the grave, they only found a jackal inside.

Jennings was already aware of a biblical verse about the birth of the Antichrist via a jackal, and this confirmed his theories. However, The First Omen depicts Damien’s mother as a nun, not a jackal.

The jackal’s presence was not properly explained in the film, so the change will not make things unbelievable. The makers changing the theory and introducing a human being as Damien’s mother is a major retcon for the franchise.
