Episode 11 of the Case Study of Vanitas, part 2, titled “Tears like Rain,” is the latest installment of the anime.
Vanitas’ deepest insecurities begin to resurface as Noe finds out about a fraction of his past. After Mikhail forced Noe to drink his blood, we found out that both he and Vanitas were taken in by a vampire of the blue moon named Luna.
The two boys considered Luna to be their father, and Mikhail wanted the three of them to live peacefully. Vanitas, on the other hand, found something out and killed Luna. Mikhail doesn’t remember the events surrounding Luna’s death and hence wants Noe to drink Vanitas’ blood.
This led to a bloody battle between Vanitas and Noe. The former injects himself with a hypnotic serum that makes him want to indiscriminately kill whoever wishes to gain access to his memories.
Noe just wants to save Domi, who is currently hypnotized by Mikhail but is soon forced to re-think his relationship with Vanitas.
Will Noe’s pure intentions make Vanitas snap back to his normal self and stop this bloody fight? Keep watching to find out.
Episode 12 Speculation
The next episode will be the finale of this season. We got a glimpse into Vanitas’ past, but the most essential parts are still shrouded in mystery.
Vanitas intends to keep it that way since he goes to great lengths, like turning himself into a heartless murderer when Noe tries to gain access to his mind.
Domi is still under Mikhail’s control, and her mind is occupied by a little girl who tells her that they must obey their captor. She starts gaining some amount of control when she jumps off the Ferris wheel without Mikhail’s command.
We saw that Louis also enters her mind, which could mean that maybe she can break through the little boy’s traps.
In the next episode, Vanitas might turn back to his usual self after Noe tells him to acknowledge him as a friend rather than ‘just some vampire.’
If he turns back, it might become easier to save Domi as well. Regardless of what happens, it’s clear that we need to wait a bit more for Vanitas to tell the truth about his past.

Episode 11 Recap
Vanitas and Noe get into a bloody fight after Noe asks him to reveal the truth about this past. He begs him to answer all of Mikhail’s questions so that he can set Domi free, but Vanitas is adamant about keeping his past a mystery.
Vanitas states that Domi isn’t his problem, and he should just let her die so that he could finally be free of her bossy attitude.
This angers Noe, and he furiously pounces on Vanitas. Seeing how his fangs were exposed, Vanitas injects himself with a green serum and goes into instant kill mode. The two engage in a horrible fight, almost forgetting about their friendship.
Mikhail enjoys this fight, patiently waiting for Vanitas to kill Noe. Elsewhere, an injured Dante is discovered by Johann and the others who ask him about Vanitas. He tells them that after finding out about Noe and Mikhail’s meeting, his face shifted into a troubled expression, and he rushed out of the café.
He adds that Vanitas’ eyes seemed cold, and it was probable that he was ready to fight Noe to death. Johann adds that this might be seriously harmful to Noe because despite being stronger, he had never killed anyone. This could be his weakness and the reason for his downfall.
Back at the amusement park, Vanitas injects himself with more serum, and Mikhail explains how it is a hypnotic potion that makes him want to kill anyone who tries to touch his past. Noe realizes that the Vanitas he’s fighting isn’t the real him and tries to stop the fight.
Meanwhile, Domi is rescued by Jeanne but refuses her help. She wants to jump off the Ferris wheel, thinking that her death might end Noe’s misery. Before she could do anything, Louis appeared before her, making her reconsider her decision.
The episode ends as Noe stops himself from hitting Vanitas with a fatal blow and reminding Vanitas of their friendship.
About The Case Study of Vanitas
The Case Study of Vanitas manga is created by Jun Mochizuka. It started serialization in the Monthly Gangan Joker magazine in December 2015. It is receiving an anime adaptation in July 2021.
Noe, a young vampire, is in search of a cursed book called The Book of Vanitas. However, on his flight to Paris, he comes face to face with Vanitas and realizes that he is a self-proclaimed vampire doctor.
Somehow Noe ends up as Vanitas’ partner to heal vampires who are going feral under an evil influence.
