Riddler Interrupts NBA Broadcast Ahead of The Batman Trailer Release

Vengeance took over the NBA All-Star game last night.

As TNT has been busy with the coverage of All-Star Weekend, the Riddler decided to hack one of the small screens during a promo as a teaser trailer for DC’s The Batman started playing instead.

NBA on TNT’s Twitter account posted the one-minute clip where broadcaster Brian Anderson is heard making the usual announcement, transitioning into a commercial break.

However, the video board outside Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse in Cleveland advertising the Game glitches as a green text reads, “Unmask the truth.”

Anderson comments, “You guys getting this in the truck? Something’s happening outside,” as the sky lights up with the Bat-Signal and the Dark Knight shows up on the roof.

Describing the scene, an amused Anderson adds, “Hold up, is that the Bat-Signal? I think the Batman’s on the roof. And I can’t believe what I’m seeing.”

The way the screen malfunctions has a similar design to the Riddler website interface – a link to which was hidden in the film’s posters.

The short trailer then begins as we see shots taken from the previous promotional material for the film. The teaser focuses on the superhero as vengeance, where Alfred says to him, “You’ve become quite a celebrity.”

All other key players like Catwoman, Penguin and Riddler are seen as well, with Commissioner Gordon remarking, “Oh, this guy’s hilarious” while talking about the Riddler.

We get a bit more of the scene with Catwoman and Batman on the rooftop as she wonders, “Who are you under there?” as she caresses his face and then jokes, “Are you just hideously scarred?”

Riddle me this, what do you think the Batsy replied with?

The tweet also revealed that a new trailer will drop during the NBA All-Star Game tonight, starting at 8pm ET on TNT.

As the teaser started out with Riddler interrupting the broadcast, the trailer will probably focus on the villain. Although I hope Warner Bros. decides to keep Paul Dano’s complete look shrouded in mystery as it would make it even more impactful when viewed for the first time in the theatres.

Director Matt Reeves had revealed that his vision for the Riddler was inspired by the Zodiac Killer, so it would be quite thrilling to uncover his story in the footsteps of the world’s greatest detective.

The Batman comes out in theaters on March 4.
