Episode 9 Recap
This episode starts with Takagi waiting for Nishikata to catch a ferry to the mainland to watch a movie. As Nishikata boards the ferry, he realizes it will be another year with straight losses if he doesn’t beat Takagi in a contest today.
When they reach the mall, Nishikata plans to win an easy contest in the arcade. Nishikata challenges Takagi in a claw machine contest. To Nishikata’s surprise, Takagi gets a plushies pair and wins the contest embarrassing him more.
Takagi gives the plushie to Nishikata since he likes the series ‘Unrequited Love’ very much. Later, as they head to the cinema, Takagi mentions how there are a lot of couples going for the show. Nishikata, realizing Takagi is trying to embarrass him, says it’s expected for such a movie.
The duo gets the special couple’s gift while entering the cinema hall. Nishikata states he needs to go to the washroom, and while he leaves, Takagi gives him part of the special gift. Later in the hall, Nishikata is flustered since he will sit next to Takagi but make it to his seat.
Nishikata and Takagi check the couple’s gift and find it adorable before the movie starts. After the film, the duo talks about how good the movie was. Takagi asks if Nishikata has a type with girls, making him anxious.
Knowing Nishikata likes the lead actress in the movie they saw, Takagi puts a contest. Surprisingly Nishikata wins the contest, making him feel he can handle any of Takagi’s tricks. Yet as Nishikata observes Takagi, he feels something off with her behavior.
The duo then checks out a square full of decorations. Nishikata later finds out that Takagi was behaving like the lead actress, to which he gets embarrassed. As the snow starts to fall, Nishikata gives a gift of appreciation to Takagi for joining him.
When Takagi opens the gift, she finds mittens since Nishikata always found her trying to warm her hands during winter. With delight in her face, Takagi gives Nishikata a gift as well. Nishikata finds the gift a woolen scarf that he recalls Takagi knitted.
Back home, Nishikata and Takagi recall their day and check their shared card, which mentioned their appreciation for the other.

Teasing Master Takagi-san is a manga series written and illustrated by Sōichirō Yamamoto. It has been serialized in Shogakukan’ Monthly Shōnen Sunday Mini and then in Monthly Shōnen Sunday since 2013.
The series follows the daily life of Takagi, who loves to tease her classmate Nishikata, and Nishikata’s failed attempts to get back at her. Each time Nishikata fails he vows to come up with new plans but Takagi often identifies his weakness and capitalizes on them.
