HBO’s comedy-drama series, Succession, begins its fourth season’s filming, but that’s not the only news we have for you. HBO has also disclosed some plot details about the upcoming season and the fate of the Roy family and their company.
After the satirical black comedy’s first season in 2018, the show has seen a tremendously successful run on HBO Max. With positive feedback and praise surrounding the writing and acting, the show went on to win nine Emmys with a two-season run alone, including the Emmy for Outstanding Drama Series.
The American TV series follows the story of the Roy family, the owners of the media company Waystar Rayco. The heirs of the family head fight to amass the controlling positions in a masterful game, at the end of which lies the treasure of acquiring the entire empire.
Succession’s third season ended with a dramatic finish as the family’s power is now up for grabs. Siblings Kendall, Roma, and Shiv are outdone by Logan yet again at the heels of Tom’s betrayal, which dealt a hard hit to his wife Shiv.
HBO recently confirmed that the filming for the fourth season is officially underway. They also released the first look into the details of the storyline to be followed in the upcoming season.
In the interview with Variety, Season 4 plot details were confirmed along with the return of the entire main cast in the ten-part installment of the TV series. The synopsis released shared that in the wake of the conglomerate’s sale to “tech visionary Lukas Mattson”, “angst and familial division” colored the ties between the Roys.
A power struggle ensues as the family weighs up a future where their cultural and political weight is severely curtailed.
After the dramatic Season 3 finale, tensions are riding high in the Roy family, and the stakes have never been this dangerous. Viewers have witnessed the power fight between the siblings these past three seasons and maybe have seen everything. But Season 4 will show their journey with their power stripped entirely, making for a fresh look for the series.
Since filming has only begun now, we can expect the premiere sometime in 2023, so fans will have to wait a little longer for more news on Season 4.
