Showrunner Joe Cornish has recently addressed the possibility of season 2 of the popular Netflix supernatural drama Lockwood & Co. The show is based on a book series by Jonathan Stroud, and season 1 covered the first two – The Screaming Staircase and The Whispering Skull.
It’s about these teenagers, Anthony Lockwood and George Karim, who get caught up in some supernatural craziness. Luckily, they have a new friend, Lucy Carlyle, who’s got mad psychic skills to help them solve the ghost problem.
Season 1 left us all hanging with a massive cliffhanger – Lockwood’s got a “secret” door, and we can’t wait to find out what’s behind it!
There’s some fresh news about Lockwood & Co.’s second season straight from showrunner Joe Cornish in his recent chat with Collider. He’s cautious about spilling the beans on the plot of season 2 but is hyped about the first season’s success. Here’s what he had to say:
Right, well listen, I’m not going to get caught up in the whole, “Is there/isn’t there going to be a Season 2?” We drive ourselves crazy. We just have to be super proud of what we’ve done. We really appreciate the fact, particularly, that fans of the book are recognizing the world that was in their imagination up on the screen. I just want to be proud and happy for the actors, for all the incredible technicians, everybody who worked on the show that made it good, and that so many people dig it.

Guessing Season 2’s Plot: Secrets, Regrets, and Paranormal Mystery!
Season 1 covered almost all the events of the first two books. Season 2 could start with book 3, The Hollow Boy.
The whole mystery of season 1 was what’s behind Lockwood’s secret door, which is in his house that he got from his dead parents. It turns out it’d got some deep secrets about his past.
At the end of season 1, he finally gets ready to spill the beans about what’s back there. He’s been super hush-hush about his family up to this point, but maybe season 2 will finally tell us more about his past.
The best thing about book adaptations is that we have the parent books to refer to! The third book in the series, The Hollow Boy, tells us everything about Lockwood’s messed-up past.
It explains why he’s so hell-bent on busting ghosts and all that. The secret room belonged to his sister, Jessica, who got killed by a spirit while she was going through their parents’ stuff.
The worst thing is Lockwood refused to help her during that perilous time! Now, he will have to deal with all the guilt and regret that comes with that decision. He will open the door to all his emotional baggage in season 2.
However, there are still more mysteries to unravel if we get a Lockwood & Co. season 2. In season 1, Lucy is obsessed with a Bone Mirror artifact that she thinks holds the spirits of Dr. Edmund Bickerstaff’s victims. We must figure out why Pamela Joplin (Louise Brealey) wants it so badly.
Plus, there’s this sketchy group called the Golden Blade (led by Luke Treadaway) who’s been trying to take out Lockwood and Lucy, but they keep failing.
There’s still so much left to explore, but with all the cancellations on Netflix (RIP Warrior Nun), we better cross our fingers and hope they don’t leave us hanging.
