Shoot! Goal to the Future Ep 9: Release Date, Speculations, Watch Online

I couldn’t stop laughing at how dramatic Sonoda and Amagai were in episode 8 of Shoot! Goal to the Future when Sonoda did a handball. I’m not sure why I appreciate the awkwardness this series contains.

 Why was the “puppet master” so “evil?” Those maniacal chuckles and how he freaked out at being unmasked were ridiculous.

In any case, I’m delighted the squad finally won their first game; they deserved it, and I’m hoping their winning streak begins here. Interestingly, Subaru recognizes he can’t time his passes to Tsuji, so I assume that was holding him back.

Episode 9 Speculations

Episode 9 of Shoot! Goal to the Future is titled “Collapse.” This may lead us to conclude that the next team that Kakegawa will face might give them a hard time.

It’s hard to think they will lose the match after all the buildup in the past few episodes. So that’s an unlikely event.

No, episode 8 of Shoot! Goal to the Future is not on break this week. The episode will be released as per schedule.

Episode 8 Recap

The episode begins with the coach giving the team a pep talk. Tsuji could feel the eyes of someone on him. The game starts, and all the students cheer for Kakegawa. They are immediately dominated by their opponents and concede a goal within a minute after kick-off.

The opponent team keeps pressing hard on the Kakegawa players, who are swept off their feet. Tsuji understands that someone is controlling the players like a puppet. He tries to locate that person but to no avail. Everyone gets confused as to who is the puppet master. The half-time whistle blows.

Everyone gathers around to chat. Kamiya tells them to recall their game with Hiramatsu’s team. They get pumped up and come together with victory as their common goal. Tsuji tries to lure out the puppet master by shouting random orders to his teammates. The other team visibly gets on their backfoot.

Now Kakegawa has the upper hand. Frustrated, number 8 from the enemy team shouts out loud. The puppet master reveals himself. With his identity out, Kakegawa players feel more confident.

But the puppet master dribbles the ball past Sonoda to strike the ball. Sonoda gets a flashback where Kamiya told him to think two steps ahead. The ball goes past Amagai, but Sonoda is there to save the ball with his hands.

He is ruled out of the game. In the penalty shootout, Amagai makes a terrific save. Then he gives the ball to Subaru, who gets it to Tsuji, but it isn’t timed right. Instead of shooting with his right, Tsuji goes for the weaker left foot to match the timing.

He gets a powerful strike towards the goal but hits the crossbar. They go at it again, and Subaru gets the ball to Jo because his timing doesn’t match with Tsuji.

 Jo heads the ball in Tsuji’s direction, saying they must make the timing match. Tsuji shoots and gets the shot in. Shortly after scoring, the full-time whistle is blown. The game moves ahead to the PK shootouts, where Kakegawa grabs a 5-3 victory over their opponents.

Shoot! Goal to the Future is a sequel anime series of the 1990 Shoot! series by Tsukasa Ōshima. Noriyuki Nakamura is directing the series at EMT Squared with Mitsutaka Hirota writing the scripts, and Yukiko Akiyama designing the characters.

It follows the next generation of Kakegawa High’s legendary soccer club with Atsushi Kamiya as their coach. The story revolves around the protagonist Hideto Tsuji and the new team giving rise to another epic saga.
