In episode 5 of Shoot! Goal to the Future, we see that Tsuji finally gets a hold of himself and works in synergy with Kazama, Subaru, and the rest of the team.
It was like a weight off the chest seeing them work together as a team, for their team. The anime is doing an excellent job of keeping us at the edge of our seats.
Episode 6 speculations
Episode 6 of Shoot! Goal to the Future is named “Napolitan” (romaji: Naporitan), which is a popular Japanese pasta dish, and we know that Atsushi Kamiya was the world-famous “courageous captain” of a well-known Italian soccer team.
The preview also featured the captain of Kakegawa High’s legendary soccer club. By connecting the dots, we can infer that episode 6 may include a flashback to the days when Atsushi Kamiya was a member of the playing eleven.
After tying with Hiramatsu’s Kakegawa weed in a 9 Vs. 11 do-or-die practice match in episode 5, Kamiya decides not to shut down Kakegawa’s school team and calls them for practice the following day.
We can expect to see their practice routines, and now that Sonoda and Sahara are back, the coach might try to fit them into the team into a functional formation.

Episode 5 Recap
The episode starts with coach Kamiya telling the players about the “deadline” and that he fixed a practice match for them against Kakegawa Weed, coached by former Kakegawa High Soccer club all-purpose technical player Kazuhiro Hiramatsu.
Following the kick-off, players of Kakegawa felt immense pressure being outnumbered by their opponents, even though they were in possession. Kazama got reckless and lost possession. Tsuji confronted him and told him to be more in control of the ball, but he didn’t listen.
Regaining the possession once again, Tsuji used his gaming instincts and strategies to his advantage, and they almost scored a goal. Hiramatsu then signals his players to lock Tsuji down and use their set-piece tactics to shoot a goal.
Tsuji quickly understands the situation and acts accordingly, and they are saved due to the interruption of a water break. Later, he is criticized for it, but the captain backs him, saying it was the right call.
During the break, Hiramatsu tells his players that the current Kakegawa team isn’t bringing out their full potential because of their internal spurts and that they may never be able to do it if they went on like this. He further adds, “Now go run away with the game,” implying – to crush their opponents.
After the break, Kakegawa Weed switched to their “Flash Pass” strategy, invented by their coach, after which they scored the first goal.
Kakegawa lost possession in an instant and were about to concede another goal in the same manner when they heard the commands of their senpais, which helped them block the shot right before the halftime whistle.
During the break, the juniors request Sonoda and Sahara to come and join the team and help them win the match.
With the second half’s commencement, the Kakegawa team fell into another of their opponent’s traps, conceding a second goal. Kazama busts his leg, trying to defend, but Tsuji and Subaru back him up, so he doesn’t have to bench.
Kakegawa play man-to-man now that they have their eleven. Subaru sprints with the ball at full speed, thanks to the personal regimes made by Kamiya. He passes the ball to Kazama, who shoots the ball with his full strength while shifting his weight on the injured foot.
This act results in a missed shot that swings across, right in the feet of Tsuji, who shoots the ball in his signature style, scoring the first goal for his team.
With just three minutes left for full-time, Kakegawa players give it their all, and Tsuji retakes a shoot. It hits the crossbar, but he comes running for it, and along comes Kazama. Both jump in for the header and make contact together.
The ball stops right before the goal line, and both dive in, again making contact at the same time and scoring a goal.
This whole sequence has got to be the most intense in this anime. The referee blows the full-time whistle, and Kazama gets frustrated that they couldn’t win. But Kamiya, having seen their effort, tells them to come for practice the following day since they neither won nor lost.
The episode ends with Kamiya and Hiramatsu looking at photos in their locker room when they used to be in the playing 11.
