Thanks to Shang-Chi, doors have been opened for new heroes and villains alike — one of whom, would very much like a showdown with Wolverine.
This comes from none other than Florian Munteanu who plays Razor Fist in the movie, the big baddie who has a machete instead of a right arm and can chop a bus into half.
In conversation with Comicbook, he discusses his entry into the MCU and the expansion of his character that has connections to Doctor Doom, Fantastic Four and more. Here’s the video:
As Munteanu comments, this “dream” battle is actually canon, as Razor Fist and Wolverine have had a face-off in the comics before. Both characters have their weapons physically attached to their bodies which would make it an intense, but unmissable sparring match to watch.
Sadly, to the disadvantage of Wolverine’s adversaries, his quick-heal ability gives him a better chance of winning a one-on-one.
But we can’t decide on any results until Marvel makes a dedicated commitment to bringing any of the X-Men into the MCU. While creative director Kevin Feige says that it is an active conservation, it’s still far off from a confirmation. Munteanu’s showdown with Wolverine will have to wait.
If Marvel indeed ever slates Razor Fist vs Wolverine, Munteanu wouldn’t know until he arrived on set. Just like he was in the dark whilst auditioning for the movie, to the point that he was not even informed that the role he was trying for was in Shang-Chi.
He only guessed it thanks to being a comic book fan. Well, that’s Marvel for you.
You audition, you do scenes, you send them over, you send the self-tapes over. And then the tough part starts because you have to wait and you don’t know if anything happens. Obviously, I knew that it was for a Marvel movie and since I’m a big fan of the MCU and a comic nerd myself, I put one-on-one together and I knew this has to be Shang-Chi. Once I was reading through the scenes, I knew. I just didn’t know what character it was for, what exact character.

Munteanu worked really hard to develop his Razor Fist, as he discloses that the impressive fight sequence in the bus took four weeks to make! The result is worth it: it’s the scene that heralds the oncoming action in Shang-Chi.
That in itself makes me want to see more of the villainous Razor Fist, against Wolverine, or whoever else we can have. I’m sure Munteanu would agree too.
