Episode 13 is titled “For the Sake of the Shadows Family.” It will show how Kate breaks Emilico free from Edward’s grasp.
Unfortunately, as per the current situation, I don’t have much hope for Kate’s escape unless a third-party steps in.
By ‘third party,’ it can only mean John, Patrick, Louise, and their living dolls. However, attempting to save Kate will surely mean declaring war on the Shadows family and their sinister practices.
The fact that the anime isn’t completely following the manga for the last few episodes makes the situation even more unpredictable. So, waiting for the season finale is the only option left to find out what happens next.

I. A Plan to Rescue Emilico
In Episode 12, Shaun comes up with a plan to rescue Emilico. He reveals that the only way to reach Lord Grandfather’s wing is through connecting corridors that too disguised as veiled dolls.
Even if the plan works out perfectly, Lord Grandfather’s wing has too many rooms to check. However, Kate assures everyone that she will find a way to reach Emilico once she sneaks in.
II. Infiltrating Lord Grandfather’s Wing
Before they could plan any further, Star Bearer Barbara knocks at the door to check the room as she suspects something fishy going on.
But, thanks to Louse’s mind-controlling soot powers, they manage to escape from the backdoor.
While investigating Patrick’s room, Barbara reveals that Edward is currently in charge of the children’s wing, who aims to rise to the third floor by impressing Lord Grandfather.
This small detail turns out to be of great help, confirming that Edward is on the second floor. With that, Kate gets herself dressed as a veiled doll and advances to the Lord Grandfather’s wing, holding a trolly in her hand.
III. An Impossible Situation
Meanwhile, Edwards has tied Emilico up in a chair without providing her any food or water. He threatens Emilico in every possible way and asks her to tell him about Kate’s rebellious intentions.
Despite all these tortures, Emilico refuses to spill anything about her mistress. Edward goes as far as trying to manipulate and brainwash her, but it wasn’t of much use.
After singaling her presence for a while, Kate finally arrives to free Emilico. But it turns out to be Edward’s plan to lure Kate out and catch her red-handed.
Can Kate rescue Emilico without leaving a clue about her rebellious intentions? Can she outsmart Edward? The season finale will answer all our questions.

Shadows House is a slice of life supernatural manga by Soumatou. It was first released in Weekly Young Jump in September 2018.
The anime takes us to the mysterious, western-style mansion populated by a clan of “Shadows,” who imitate the trappings of human aristocracy. The Shadows have no faces and are attended by “Living dolls.”
The story follows Emiriko, a doll who serves Living Shadow Kate. Apart from being her maid, Emiriko is expected to become Kate’s “face” once her mistress is old enough to be introduced to the other mansion residents.
