In chapter 4 of the spinoff, a new location was introduced. Due to the helicopter crash, Michonne and Rick were stranded in a new and unfamiliar city.

This gave the two sometime in isolation to figure out their dynamic. Moreover, it revealed some interesting things about the city and what’s happened since the zombie apocalypse.

Rick and Michonne found themselves in a city that wasn’t merely a remnant of the pre-outbreak world but was a functioning community even after the zombie apocalypse.

Michonne discovered a letter that named the place Greenwood. The writer, Lakshmi Patel, stated that he established the place with others to be self-sufficient even when the world was crumbling.

However, the barren wasteland proved that their plans to be self-sufficient in Greenwood had gone in vain. In the letter, Patel stated that their plans turned out to be a ‘sick joke,’ highlighting how the condition of Greenwood plummeted.

The people might have run out of food and other resources, rendering the place uninhabitable.

Whatever happened must’ve happened fairly recently because Michonne found a working robot vacuum cleaner. This proved that the people hadn’t gone for too long.

Although the episode didn’t specify the exact location of Greenwood, their previous location confirmed that it was somewhere in the west of Philadelphia.

After their visit to the Cascadia Forward Operating Base in episode 3, Michonne pushed Rick out of the helicopter on their way back. Therefore, Greenwood is located somewhere between Cascadia and Philadelphia.

Got the rare talent to binge an entire show in a single sitting just like that. Although a sucker for psychological thrillers, no bias for any genre when it comes to a good story. A living proof that Netflix and chill is not a myth!
