Episode 8 Recap
This episode starts with Henry overwhelmed by his role as king. Warwick appears and suggests Henry go on a pilgrimage since he feels suffocated in the palace. Finding the suggestion helpful, Henry gives Warwick acting authority as the king until he returns.
Warwick is delighted with Henry’s decision but feels George could act as the protector. George isn’t entirely on board with the decisions, but he is forced to comply due to Warwick’s intimidation.
Warwick knows with everything in his hands, he rules England even though he’s not the king. Meanwhile, Edward of York tells Richard to send a Yorkist flag to George, giving him a final warning.
As Richard and Catesby travel to France, Richard is conflicted if he’s fit to convince George but is determined to try. Richard and his convoy cross paths with Henry’s carriage, worrying the carriage guards.
When Richard and Catesby rest in an inn, they get encountered by the guards. While Richard tries to escape, he gets injured when a guard attacks him. Later, when he runs through the woods, he surprisingly encounters Henry.
Henry is happy to see Richard and gets concerned that he’s hurt. They then spend time in a secret spot in the wood so that Richard can rest. Edward goes to gather herbs for the wound while Richard stays put.
Richard then gets into a trance of a demon, saying he’s meant to die and no one will save him. Edward brings Richard back to a normal state, and they rest under a tree. The next day Richard goes to the spring to freshen up with no one around.
Edward makes his way and helps Richard clean up his stains. Richard is concerned since he is insecure about his body, but Edward finds it spotless. As some women appear to refresh in the spring, Henry gets into a traumatic effect when one of them talks to him.
Later, Richard finds out that Edward saw his mother having an affair as a child, which made him fear the desire and lust of people.
Richard hearing such words relates to Henry’s pain and realizes he’s felt the same pain. As Henry finds Richard’s presence soothing, Richard knows he has feelings for Henry.
