Episode 2 Recap
This episode starts with Richard’s mother not letting him go to war with his father. Cecily states she won’t let Richard curse someone and bring death, for he is a demon child. Later he is kept in a tower as per his mother’s orders.
As the king defeats a few of Lancaster’s soldiers and thinks it’s over, the York army gets ambushed by arrows.
The King of York is cornered and then captured. Margaret of Anjou keeps the king alive to disgrace him and watch his despair before killing him.
Even though Margaret insults the King of York, he knows vengeance will come for them. Margaret then shows a cloth stained with blood and tells the blood is from his son Richard. The king gets concerned and falls in despair.
Getting to see what she wanted, Margaret puts an end to the King of York. Edward of Westminster rescues Richard when Margaret’s army advances into York territory.
Knowing his mother abandoned him and fled with his brothers, Richard won’t mind getting caught.
Edward says he doesn’t know why he saved him but says he thinks because Richard is a woman. Richard corrects Edward saying that he is called ‘son’ by his father and given the name ‘Richard’ for a reason.
Afterward, Richard gets confronted by a Lancaster soldier. He quickly calculates his escape plan and ends up killing the soldier.
As Richard hides the body, he meets Henry. Henry is happy he found him, but Richard finds this meeting frustrating.
When Richard tries to leave, Henry says he wants to go with him, for being around makes him feel free.
Richard then states he isn’t like him and runs away, wanting to be alone. Margaret finds Henry and requests him to get back to their kingdom.
Henry doesn’t want violence and says this isn’t what he wanted to Margaret and Edward. Margaret finds his actions unfit for a king and is embarrassed to be his wife.
Later, as Richard tries to find his father, he gets assaulted by some men who mistook his gender.
He manages to escape from them and is called a demon child in a mental trance.
Richard desperately runs to find his father so he can be saved. Richard then finds his father but thinks he’s safe with his father due to his trauma even though the king is dead.
