Episode 12 Recap
Mizuhara is determined to fulfill her acting dreams before it’s too late, even as she watches her grandmother struggle for life every day at the hospital. Despite her declining health, Mizuhara has never had the chance to show grandma Sayuri a movie starring her.
Fortunately, she continues to make money from her job as a rental girlfriend so that she can pursue her acting dreams. As a child, Mizuhara remembers being inspired to become an actress by her grandma Sayuri.
In the meantime, her grandfather also supported her. A road accident seriously injured him when she was still in school.
Mizuhara was rushed to the hospital by her grandmother Sayuri when she discovered her grandpa in critical condition. Despite her best efforts, Sayuri’s husband’s condition did not improve in the following days.
In his dying breath, he told Mizuhara that she would one day fulfill her acting dreams. For Mizuhara, that moment will permanently be etched in her memory.
Mizuhara needs to fulfill her dream since she only has her grandmother now. Her recent audition results await her when she returns home after a long and tiring day. In none of these Mizuhara is offered a role. She gives her best effort but still fails, which causes her to break down and cry.
With the photo of her grandfather in hand, she asks if her dreams will ever come true. When her grandmother’s health declines and she fails to get a role, Mizuhara displays no emotion. Her dreams will be realized thanks to Kazuya’s brilliant plan, unbeknownst to her.
A knock on Mizuhara’s door interrupts her crying as she remembers her grandfather. Kazuya is standing in front of Mizuhara when she opens it. He enters her apartment without a word while Mizuhara tries to stop him. The reason behind his odd demeanor soon became clear to her.
A crowdfunding website is displayed on Kazuya’s laptop. Her grandma Sayuri will be able to see the indie film she makes with his help. Grandma doesn’t have much time left, so that’s the only way she can fulfill her wish. In his explanation, the website allows small-budget films to raise a decent amount of money.
Over 200 similar applications have been submitted to the crowdfunding website, and almost 70 percent received funding within 30 days. Because of this, Kazuya is very optimistic about his plan’s chances of working. Mizuhara and Kazuya face the biggest challenge of finishing the movie on time, despite the idea being entirely convincing.
Raising the money typically takes 30 days, followed by another month of hard work for the production. No one is sure how much time Grandma Sayuri has left complicates things even further. Therefore, the indie film must be completed as soon as possible.
Kazuya rethinks every aspect of the plan after sharing his idea with Mizuhara. While Mizuhara considers the crowdfunding idea, she also takes her time. After carefully considering everything, she knocks on Kazuya’s door and asks for his assistance.
Mizuhara’s nod bolsters Kazuya’s confidence. The fact that he has gone so far is stupid to her, but deep down, she is thankful for the help he has given her.
