Power Rangers Finally Answers Why Scorpina Disappeared from the Show

Summary

• Power Rangers: Soul of the Dragon finally explains Scorpina’s disappearance in the canon series.

• Scorpina’s character arc features her developing from Rita’s henchwoman to the last standing villain of Power Rangers.

Fans have finally gotten a canonical explanation for the sudden disappearance of Mighty Morphin, Power Rangers’ villain, Scorpina.

We first see Scorpina in the show’s first season, and she has remained one of Rita Repulsa’s most skilled warriors. Although her appearances are sparse and sporadic, she leaves a lasting impression as an underrated villain.

However, she suddenly disappears without explanation, and fans finally have an answer.

Scorpina’s last television appearance happens in the second season episode called ‘Goldar’s Vice-Versa.’

After that, fans never got an inkling of Scorpina’s appearance until 2018’s comic titled ‘Power Rangers: Soul of the Dragon’ by Kyle Higgins, Giuseppe Cafaro, Marcelo Costa, and Ed Dukeshire.

The comic takes place several years into the future, and we see a new villain surfacing.

Tommy Oliver predicts that the villain is none other than the nefarious Rita Repulsa, especially given her title of ‘The Witch.’

However, the Witch was revealed to be Scorpina, which explains her disappearance and how she evaded Zordon’s evil-vanquishing Z-Wave.

After kidnapping J.J. Oliver, Scorpina reveals her past actions and her disappearance.

After her last appearance in Power Rangers Mighty Morphin, Scorpina grows power-hungry and schemes to overthrow Rita. However, Rita sees through her plans and strikes first.

She uses her dark magic to overthrow the villain and send her to the Talos Dimension, ruled by the nefarious Lokar.

Power Rangers: Soul of the Dragon

After spending years pleading for her freedom, Scorpina finally gets much-needed leverage in the form of Zordon’s Z-Wave.

Lokar’s allies, including Rita and Lord Zedd, are drained of their evil, but Scorpina is spared because she’s in another dimension. It leaves Lokar with no choice but to allow Scorpina to act as his agent of chaos.

Thus, Scorpina becomes Lokar’s prime agent of chaos, using dark magic crystals to spread his message from the shadows.

Scorpina’s avoidance of the Z-Waves makes her the last villain in the Power Rangers Mighty Morphin lore. Not only is she the last villain in the franchise, but also the final big-bad in the entire franchise.

Therefore, it elevates Scorpina’s position in a way the canon series could never do. It makes Scorpina a main and proper antagonist and not some underrated sidekick.

Got the rare talent to binge an entire show in a single sitting just like that. Although a sucker for psychological thrillers, no bias for any genre when it comes to a good story. A living proof that Netflix and chill is not a myth!
