PlayStation 5 Pro leaks are confirmed to be accurate

Jeff Grub of Giant Bomb has reportedly confirmed PlayStation 5’s rumored Pro version.

The Pro version brings a new upscaling technology that leverages machine learning for faster frame rates at higher resolutions.

The speculated release date for the PlayStation 5 Pro version is estimated to be around September 2024.

Sony has been working on the next PlayStation 5 console after the recent release of the PlayStation 5 Slim. With the release cycle of 8 years between two generations of PlayStation, the release of the PlayStation 6 is at least two years away, and another PlayStation is in the works.

Jeff Grub of Giant Bomb has described the PlayStation 5 Pro Hardware leak as “almost certainly real,” thereby practically confirming the leak. The new hardware will leverage some proprietary form of DLSS that uses machine learning to upscale the visuals to ensure a high frame rate at a “really high resolution.”

PlayStation 5 Pro will be the only one to leverage this machine-learning technology for upscaling. This is primarily because the hardware will be much more powerful than the PlayStation 5 and PS5 Slim.

Grubb has also given a speculative release date for the PlayStation 5 Pro. The release date is speculated to be around September 2024.

This aligns with the previous rumors of the PS5 Pro release date. Reputed media outlet Insider Gaming’s Tom Henderson has mentioned that Sony expected the hardware configuration to leak ahead of the launch and that they were counting on it.

There were also rumors of the dev kits of PlayStation 5 Pro being shipped to first-party developers to develop titles based on the hardware it had to offer.

Sony has been known to share their development kits with third-party developers, like Square Enix and From Software, who work closely with Sony.

The leak likely originated from one of the developers who received the PS5 Pro Dev kit. We will soon get to know, around the middle of 2024, whether PS5 Pro is launching in September 2024 or not.
