Mark Your Calenders as Steam Deck Is Confirmed to Launch on Feb 25

At last, the moment of kicking uncertainty out of our lives is here. Enthusiasts cudgeled their brains thinking about  when the Steam Deck would finally roll out. Thankfully, they have their answer now.

Valve announced on Wednesday  that the Steam Deck will launch on February 25, 2022.

The initial batch of order emails will be sent out to those reservation holders on launch day at 10 A.M PST who preordered the handheld back in July 2021.

These invitees will then have three days to confirm the order and pay the remaining price. Should they decline or not respond, the invitation will carry forward to the next person on the waiting list.

For those who quickly conduct their business, Valve revealed that the first units of the Steam Deck will get shipped on February 28.

It’s also worth noting that if you don’t get your email on February 25 despite belonging to the first batch of reservations, try not to get all worked up. Since Valve plans on releasing “new order email batches on a weekly cadence,” you will get to grab your own Deck on March 4.

On top of this, there are also a few caveats you must be made aware of. The most prominent one is that you cannot order any Steam Deck model other than the one you’ve reserved. Once earmarked, it’ll be set in stone, and consequently, you won’t be able to opt for a better or inferior variant of the handheld.

Last but not least, Valve also fulfilled the promise it made when the console was first announced by recapitulating that users’ “reservation deposit will be applied to the final price of Steam Deck, and shipping costs are included.”

With Steam Deck looking like the real deal on paper, we hope for it to bode just as well in practice so that the console can justify its hefty price tags of $349 (64GB), $529 (256GB), or $649 (512GB).
