Obi-Wan Kenobi on Disney Plus: Episode Release Schedule

Ewan McGregor is back as Obi-Wan Kenobi, reprising his role from the prequel trilogy of movies. The miniseries, named after the Jedi master, takes place ten years after Revenge of the Sith.

While the season was planned to premiere on Wednesday, May 25, it was pushed to Friday, May 27.

The miniseries, however, dropped its first and second episodes on Thursday, May 26, on Disney Plus.

There has been a lot of confusion regarding the time of the premiere.

In a hasty tweet on Thursday, the official Star Wars Twitter account posted for its viewers that the episodes will drop three hours earlier, at 9 PM PT.

A reason for the rash change in release timings might be to avoid clashing with Netflix’s highly anticipated Stranger Things Season 4 premiere.

The other episodes, however, are set to release every Wednesday, at 12 AM PT, as scheduled.

The series kicks off with a stark and ominous prologue providing a glimpse of the Order 66 moment through the eyes of the last Jedi in Revenge of the Sith.

The threat of the Inquisitors is made clear from the first episode itself as we’re introduced to a few of the bad guys of the series—the Grand Inquisitor and the Second and Third siblings, giving off a very SS officer vibe.

Finally, we see Obi-Wan Kenobi’s whereabouts. Working under the pseudonym Ben in a meat refinery, he’s become a fraction of his old self—hesitating to speak up in face of injustices because he’s helpless. In his night-terrors, Kenobi relives his deep regrets. Unable to overcome his past, he approaches Qui-Gon Jinn for advice but gets no success.

While Darth Vader has yet not made an appearance, there is some reference to the Skywalker children, which means that his appearance might not be too far away.

More of how he will tie in, along with other mysteries, will be revealed in future episodes.

Obi-Wan Kenobi is now streaming on Disney+.
