New Writer Joins Marvel’s Blade Team A Month Before Filming Starts

Blade, the Marvel reboot starring Mahershala Ali as the vampire hunter, is making fast progress as a new writer has been hired to complete the script just a month before filming starts.

The project was first announced in 2019 at San Diego Comic-Con, where Ali made a shocking appearance on stage. But since then, Blade has faced several delays and changes in the creative team, including directors and screenwriters.

The MCU’s Blade movie has a new screenwriter on board, as reported by The Hollywood Reporter.

Nic Pizzolatto, the creator of True Detective, will write the latest version of the Blade script, based on Michael Starrbury’s previous draft. This is an unexpected development since the filming of Blade is supposed to start in late May 2023, and Pizzolatto has only been working for a few weeks.

Pizzolatto’s involvement in Blade is significant, as he will work with Ali again.

The HBO series True Detective, where Ali starred, was created by Pizzolatto. The series regained its critical acclaim with season 3, after a disappointing season 2, and earned an 84% rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

Pizzolatto is also known for writing his scripts and taking time with them. However, he is joining Blade as a screenwriter only a month before filming begins. This could mean that the script needs significant changes, which is difficult to do in such a short time.

It could also mean that Pizzolatto is happy to join the MCU’s vampire adventure and only make minor adjustments.

With Pizzolatto on board as a creative partner for Ali, Blade might be able to stick to its 2024 release date.

This is a welcome sign for the Blade reboot, which has faced many delays and challenges in its development. The MCU’s plans for Blade will become more evident as they start production soon.

Hopefully, the fans will be treated with a unique script with the famous duo taking the responsibility on their shoulders at such a crucial time.
