Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 and Warzone update released

Summary

  • Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 and Warzone have received a new surprise patch that fixes a bunch of issues.
  • Couple of guns have been buffed to improve the demarcation between 7.62mm and 5.56mm guns and the respective playstyles.
  • There are a lot of bugfixes and stability improvements along with the announcement of a mid-season patch.

A new surprise patch has dropped for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3. The developers are trying to get players and the dedicated Call of Duty fanbase to develop a liking for the game, that has been rather bland since its launch with a lot of complaints.

The latest update to Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 has introduced balance changes to the title by buffing the Striker 9 SMG, TAQ Evolvere LMG and WSP Stinger Handgun alongside the Longbow’s JAK Tyrant 762 kit. The weapon adjustments apply to Warzone as well. Sniper Rifles and Sub Base Hardpoint have also been removed from ranked play.

The restriction of sniper rifles from all Ranked Play modes and maps has taken players by quite some surprise. Sub Base Hardpoint has now been removed.

However, deletions are not the only thing that are a feature of this patch. Players will be getting new Multiplayer playlists on February 14th. This would include a 24/7 playlist for Departures.

Departures was initially introduced in Modern Warfare 3’s Season 2. Another playlist includes Hordepoint: hellhound Pound and Snipers only. The Snipers Only mode is clearly for the disgruntled players who are not happy with removal of snipers from ranked play.

A mid-season update has also been confirmed, bringing the Das Haus map along with new variants of Terminal and Skidrow, which is a bounty game mode alongside the Juggermosh LTM.

A host of bugs have also been fixed in this patch. This includes the issue wherein the players were getting kicked back to the menu. Players can now preview their weapons Completionist awards in peace as the menu will remain operable.

Placeholder name for the Imago RAM-9 Submachine Gun Camo has been replaced along with placeholder images for Horde Hunt Event Menu. The developers noted that the main aim behind reworking the gun stats is to differentiate between the longer ranged and more accurate 7.62 over the run-and-gun 5.56.

Along with a bunch of changes to Zombies gameplay and Killstreaks, this update seems to pack quite a punch. Player reception is being awaited and the developers are hoping to fix their mistakes.
