Paramount+ Renews NCIS: Sydney for Another Season: Here’s What We Know So Far

CBS has announced the renewal of NCIS: Sydney for season 2. Season 1 ended with a suspenseful twist involving the characters Ana Niemus and JD, revealing a plotline with Colonel Rankin. Despite the uncertain fate of the show’s setting after the season finale in January, it’s now official that the series will return on CBS and Paramount+.

NCIS: Sydney getting renewed isn’t surprising given season 1’s popularity on both television and streaming platforms. With the NCIS brand growing, the original cast is slated to come back, and there’s a possibility of new faces joining the team in the upcoming season. Showrunner Morgan O’Neill spoke about the series’ future in a recent statement. He said:

“We’re beyond stoked with the response to the first season of the show, both in Australia and around the world, and that the team at ‘NCIS: Sydney’ is returning for a second season. We’re especially thrilled to invite our audience deeper into the lives of our core team, peeling back the layers to find out what really makes them tick. This will be even more important as we see the bonds of the new family tested to breaking point in the face of a much more potent enemy looming on the horizon.”

The season 1 finale of NCIS: Sydney has set the stage for an intriguing season 2, leaving viewers with unanswered questions about Ana’s ties to Colonel Rankin and the implications for the overarching narrative.

The final episode saw Ana detained by NCIS, only for JD to be coerced into releasing her after his son is abducted by a clown during his birthday celebration. In a shocking twist, the clown targets JD, but Ana intervenes, eliminating the clown and revealing that Colonel Rankin is the only contact on the clown’s phone.

The upcoming season 2 promises to delve into the enigmatic partnership between Ana and Colonel Rankin, who has emerged as a formidable adversary to the NCIS team, especially after his schemes against American agents abroad.

This development suggests that Ana’s role is far more central than initially thought, and it’s likely to bring significant changes to the cast, including the introduction of new characters.

The revelation about Rankin also places Mackey in a precarious position, as she confronts him in the last moments of the episode. With the confirmation of season 2, fans are eagerly awaiting further details on the production, cast and release date.
