2. Recap of Episode 5 of My Hero Academia: Vigilantes
Kouichi is settling into a quiet life as an unlicensed vigilante, though it’s far from ideal. He lives in a small metal hut on top of an abandoned building, but instead of focusing on how rough things are, he tells himself it’s “surprisingly spacious.” Pop Step and Knuckleduster come by regularly, eating his food and treating the place like their own, but Kouichi doesn’t complain. He’s used to disappointment, his dream of becoming a pro hero ended before it began, so he takes comfort in the small things, like not being alone.

We learn that Kouichi missed the entrance exam for hero school because he stopped to save someone he thought was drowning in a river. The water was only knee-deep, and the “boy” he tried to save was actually a girl named Kazuho Haneyama, now known as Pop Step. He gave her his limited-edition All Might hoodie afterward, not realizing it was a moment she’d remember.
Pop Step plans to return the hoodie and confess how she feels about him but changes her mind when she sees Knuckleduster at Kouichi’s place. Later that night, Knuckleduster skips patrol, leaving Kouichi and Pop to go out on their own.
While patrolling, they’re confronted by a villain they fought once before, the man who can harden his body. This time he’s much stronger, enhanced by a new version of the drug Trigger, provided by the villain Hachisuka under orders from All For One. Kouichi tries to lead the villain away from civilians while Pop calls the police, but he can’t keep up.

Just as things go south, a new masked vigilante named Stendhal appears and fights off the villain with deadly precision. After the fight, two middle schoolers tell Kouichi and Pop that their old upperclassman wants to meet. It turns out to be the same creepy guy who once used their names in his disturbing online videos. He doesn’t say what he wants, but Stendhal has already marked him as a future target.
3. Speculation of Episode 6 of My Hero Academia: Vigilantes
Stendhal seems like someone who’s decided the system isn’t enough, and he’s taking justice into his own hands no matter the cost. The way he stepped in to save Kouichi felt less like a rescue and more like a statement, like he’s not doing this to protect people, but to punish those he thinks deserve it.

He’s now after the same creepy guy who once dragged Kouichi and Pop into his mess which makes it clear he’s been watching from the sidelines. It raises the question of whether Kouichi and Pop are just bystanders in his eyes, or if he sees something in them, good or bad, that puts them on his radar too.
