A Plus Ultra October: New My Hero Academia US Movie Release

What does a boy devoid of quirks, a boy with daddy issues and a boy made of pure anger have in common? They’re all going to be in a movie together!

Yup — Deku, Todoroki and Bakugo will team up for My Hero Academia: World Heroes’ Mission releasing October 29 in US theatres.

In a world where most humans are born with quirks (superpowers), Deku (also known as Izuku Midoriya) dreams of becoming a superhero but is born with none.

This does not deter him from enrolling into UA High School, where individuals train to become superheroes.

World Heroes’ Mission will be the franchise’s third movie. Here, Deku, Todoroki and Bakugo (all who arguably are never comfortable in each other’s company) are sent on an internship, during which they are blamed and hunted down for a crime they did not commit.

The heroes will be voiced by Daiki Yamashita/Justin Briner for Deku, Yuki Kaji/David Matranga for Todoroki and Nobuhiko Okamoto/Clifford Chapin for Bakugo. Here’s the trailer!

The first two films, which were also standalone like World Heroes’ Mission were carefully interjected to follow the narrative of the ongoing anime series.

And while the previous movies have never majorly disrupted the anime’s flow, the same cannot be said for World Heroes’ Mission.

Despite not being “canon,” the third movie is supposed to follow the Endeavor Arc played out in the on-air Season 5 of the anime.

However, due to the release date of the movie, the other important arcs (Meta Liberation Army and Paranormal Liberation War) of the season are being pushed back, much to the dismay of fans.

It is left to see how this mix-up will be resolved in order to have both, a successful theatrical release, as well as a remarkable Season 5 ending.

The subtitled and dubbed movie will be available in 1,500 theatres across the USA and Canada and is slated to have theatrical releases in other regions including the UK, Australia, Latin America and Scandinavia.

For US movie-goers, pre-order ticket sales will go up on October 1.

Heroes’ Rising, the second film went on to make 13 million US on the US box office, but we’re unsure how well World Heroes’ Mission will do, no matter how good it is.

Nonetheless, as one of the newer animes (having debuted only in 2014) the series remains a fan favorite. The massively popular manga has spawned a five-season and running anime, novels, video games and even a musical!

About My Hero Academia: World Heroes’ Mission

My Hero Academia: World Heroes’ Mission is an upcoming Japanese animated movie from the My Hero Academia franchise. The standalone serves as the overall third movie in the series, following Two Heroes and Heroes’ Rising.

From the anime series, it is meant to be a non-canon part of the Endeavor Agency Arc (Season 5).

The film will follow Deku (Daiki Yamashita/Justin Briner), Todoroki (Yuki Kaji/David Matrang) and Bakugo (Nobuhiko Okamoto/Clifford Chapin) on an internship that takes a turn for the worst when they are accused of a crime they did not commit.
