Marvel Studios has finally revealed the main villain of the upcoming ‘Deadpool and Wolverine.’
The movie will be a star-studded addition to the Marvel roster, starring Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine and Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool as they face off against the TVA.
While several details have already been leaked about the film, the film’s villain has not yet been revealed.
However, a newly filed copyright registration contains the list of all the major characters in the film. According to the U.S. Copyright Office, the cast of ‘Deadpool and Wolverine’ will have Wolverine, Deadpool, Morena Baccarin’s Vanessa, Jennifer Garner’s Elektra, and finally, Emma Corrin’s Cassandra Nova.
Cassandra Nova is a supervillain with an unparalleled hatred toward the X-Men. Thus, she is the perfect candidate to be the main villain in the upcoming film.
Cassandra Nova first appeared in New X-Men #114 and was made by Frank Quittel and Grant Morison.
She bears an uncanny resemblance to Charles Xavier, and that is because the two are technically siblings. However, Nova is Xavier’s psychic opposite, i.e., his Mummudrai.
In the canon, Xavier kills her while they are both in the womb, but Cassandra somehow manages to come back to life.
Cassandra’s enmity with Xavier has led to a montage of clashes in the X-Men universe. In her time, Nova has annihilated the mutant stronghold of Genosha and destroyed millions of mutants.
Like Xavier, Nova also possesses telepathic powers and regeneration abilities. While she is a mutant, her sole goal is to kill all the mutants connected to Xavier and, finally, the man himself.
Since ‘Deadpool and Wolverine’ will be the only Marvel film in 2024, Cassandra Nova will probably be Marvel’s flagship villain for the year.
We have already seen her in the trailer, as the back of her head was visible in a quick shot.
Finally, the only question that remains is whether Wade Wilson and Logan will be able to take out the supervillain. If so, we can expect the only Marvel film of 2024 to be an explosive phenomenon!
