Lucifer Teaser References Pilot Scene, S6 Gets September Release Date

Netflix has released the first teaser trailer for Lucifer season 6, revealing that the final season will return in September.

Actor Tom Ellis made an appearance at Comic-Con along with executive producers Joe Henderson and Ildy Modrovich. The final season footage was debuted at the panel, and Ellis explained why the new trailer differs from previous seasons.

We spoil a lot in our trailers, and we like to do that because we like everyone talking. But this is the final season. We’re trying to keep our hands really close to the vest. This is the last year that we have secrets [and] can surprise people.

Most of the teaser was a compilation of footage from seasons 1 to 5, serving as a recap to jog our memories for the final season. It showed some of the important moments from the entire series.

The teaser had Lucifer wearing a crisp white suit… because, you know, now that he’s God and all that.

The end shot was a surprise and kind of nostalgic as it referenced back to the very first scene of the Pilot episode where a police officer stops Lucifer for speeding. Lucifer is again pulled over by the same officer from the first episode.

Lucifer then says, “I apologize. This is my last night in LA,” as he drives away with his flask in his hand as the camera cuts on the ‘Fall1n1’ plate of his car.

The title card then revealed the season 6 premiere date as September 10, 2021.

The video description reads:

All bad things must come to an end. The final season of Lucifer premieres on Netflix on September 10.

Lucifer Season 5 Part 2 had a heart-breaking ending with Dan’s demise. Michael stabbed Chloe, and she died for a minute there as well. However, Luci saved the day and brought her back. The final moments saw Lucifer become the new God.

Developed by Tom Kapinos, the DC comics adaptation first premiered on Fox in 2016 and was officially canceled after three seasons in 2018. However, Netflix saw an opportunity and saved the show, renewing it for three more seasons.

The streaming service even ended up changing the original ending to allow Season 6 to happen.
