Since its premiere on HBO Max in June 2019, the teen-drama Euphoria has garnered a vast following and gained critical acclaim for its plot and performances. The show has earned lead actress Zendaya quite a few awards and also gave a booster shot to all the actors portraying the central roles.
The show was renewed for season 3 at the beginning of 2022, but filming wasn’t supposed to begin till February 2023. But now Maude Apatow, who plays Lexi Howard in the TV series, has given the Euphoria fandom a disappointing update for the filming dates via Vogue.
The actress confirmed that filming will start much later than predicted earlier and that the actors have not even received their scripts for the upcoming season. Like the chasm between season 2 and season 3 wasn’t long enough, it is now predicted that the latest season will not hit streaming till late 2024.
We already know that lead actress Zendaya is involved with several other high-priority projects like Dune: Part Two and Challengers, which can be the primary reason for the delay. But Euphoria’s central cast was thrust into the spotlight after a much more successful season 2, with some actors gaining prominant roles outside of the popular show.
The scheduling conflicts aside, showrunner Sam Levinson is still working on the script, probably taking his time to come up with a story that will surpass the high standards set by season 2. Apatow didn’t say when filming would start, and HBO hasn’t released any confirmed dates either, so we’re in the dark.
For now, we can just wait for more information on when season 3 will start filming and rewatch the first two seasons of Euphoria on HBO Max.
