In chapter 187, titled “Tokyo No. 2 Colony, Part 6”, Kashimo and Hakari continue battling it out, trying to one-up each other with every passing panel.
Hakari’s abilities keep getting more complicated and ridiculous with every chapter. It is at a point where I am certain all of us have stopped keeping track of the exposition he throws at us.
Kashimo on the other hand, seems to be waiting for something whilst hiding some strange power within themselves. The flashback we are shown in the second half of the chapter paints Kashimo to be more mysterious than what was previously let on.
1. Chapter 188 Raw Scans and Leaks
The raw scans of Chapter 188 “Tokyo No.2 Colony Part 7” have been released. Kashimo and Hakari continue their battle at the docks, with Hakari’s “Immortality” just activated. Both appear to be evenly matched as they exchange blows one after another. Kashimo then attacks Hakari’s head, but the injury heals immediately.
Later, Kashimo prepares himself for an attack as he waits for Hakari’s Immortality duration to be over. He attacks at the exact moment with his electricity and wounds Hakari’s torso. Hakari cannot heal this as the four minutes and eleven seconds are over. However, Hakari uses his domain expansion again, leaving Kashimo shocked.
2. Chapter 188 Discussion
The unexpected flashback in the latter half of the chapter adds a shroud of mystery to the ongoing battle. It also raises the curtains over Kashimo’s past. It may also open the doors to the first question about them: why are they looking for Sukuna so desperately?
It is evident that Kashimo has an unhealthy obsession with Sukuna seeing how the two might have a past.
Coming back to the current battle, Hakari’s tremendous power easily makes him one of the strongest sorcerers of the current generation. However, if Kashimo’s vow holds any credibility then the climax of the battle is yet to be reached.

4. Recap of Chapter 187
This chapter carries over the domain expansion that Hakari had activated toward the end of the previous chapter. Once all the domain rules are explained as per the sure hit effect. Both Hakari and Kashimo begin their brawl and launch a flurry of consecutive hits.
Though it looks like Hakari is getting beaten up he suddenly turns the tables with the deadliest weapon of all, math. Hakari breaks out into a symphony of rules and “pseudo rolls” which are even more powerful than they normally would be due to his previously activated “Pure Love Train”.
These would usually be a dud, but since special conditions prevailed, his probability of hitting the jackpot exceeds 20%, and he is allowed to throw these rolls on a whim.
Hakari lands an even-numbered reach (666) which activates his four minutes and eleven seconds of immortality, whereas an odd-numbered reach would just increase his probability.
Kashimo was also preparing his ultimate move when we are hit with a sudden flashback to a battlefield 400 years ago, revealing Kashimo’s and Ryu’s original appearances.
Kenjaku of the past or an avatar of him is seen walking across a bloody battlefield. He approaches an old man. They talk about a sorcerer with the greatest energy output, “a true cannon” who might very well be the Mutsu we see in the present tournament.
The old man, who is apparently on the verge of death, asks Kenjaku, who, according to him, is the strongest sorcerer. Kenjaku responds with the name Sukuna with the catch being that he was sealed 600 years ago.
The old man agrees to Kenjaku’s plans to challenge Sukuna after his resurrection, and as he turns around, he is revealed to be an elderly Kashimo.
